Are you ready to take on the challenge to help us build the future?<h4>Responsibilities</h4><ul><li>The following job responsibilities are more generalized than the content above and apply to in-house attorneys across different sections of the department covering several speciality areas.</li><li>Serves as Lead Attorney or First Chair on medium-sized or more discrete legal matters, but with growing complexity; serves as Second Chair or provide support on significant legal matters.</li><li>Anticipates and identifies critical legal operating, technological, and environmental risks and works with stakeholders to develop appropriate and effective mitigation strategies.</li><li>Provides legal advice on complex issues that may have significant strategic or performance implications for the organization.</li><li>Drives processes and procedures for contracts, as appropriate and the implementation of best practice under the guidance of Senior Attorneys.</li><li>Analyzes and drafts legal memoranda assessing the merits and respective legal risks and opportunities with focus of different problem-solving approaches.</li><li>Creates business-oriented legal reports and correspondence and effectively presents legal information to senior management; helps to lead regulatory and enforcement matters which involves drafting and preparing of contracts or regulatory filings, as appropriate, and/or testimonies and reports, and advocating company positions at hearings.</li><li>Influences specialist legal operations and projects in a way that manages key legal and regulatory risks, while balancing the interests of all stakeholders.</li><li>Leads the negotiating and drafting of a wide variety of agreements or submissions.</li><li>Participates in the designing of the legal strategy for draft proposed legislation.</li><li>Oversees, strategically and cost-effectively, the management and partnership with outside counsel contentious/ litigation matters.</li><li>A material job duty of all positions within the Company is ensuring the protection of all its physical, financial and cybersecurity assets, and properly accessing and managing private customer data, proprietary information, confidential medical records, and other types of highly sensitive information and data with the highest standards of conduct and integrity.</li></ul><h4>Minimum Qualifications</h4><ul><li>Juris Doctor&nbsp;(J.D.) from an accredited law school.</li><li>Three or more&nbsp;years of experience practicing law. Your combined experience can be at a law firm, corporate in-house setting, or government authority.</li><li>Current member in good standing of the State Bar of California or willingness and ability to become accredited as such.</li></ul>Preferred Qualifications<ul><li>Top academic credentials desired.</li><li>Experience in the utility or energy industry is preferred, but not required.</li><li>Experience interacting with federal, state, or local agencies or courts.</li><li>Ability to independently handle proceedings as lead attorney in matters before regulatory agencies, such as the California Public Utilities Commission, or first chair-level court experience.</li><li>Experience working with client organizations to develop and carry-out strategic initiatives, e.g., identification of factual and legal issues, development of prepared testimony, legal pleadings, discovery, witness preparation, cross-examination, oral argument, and legal briefs.</li><li>Strategic problem solver with strong analytical ability to provide legal advice within a business context.</li><li>Excellent written and oral communication skills.</li><li>Ability to simultaneously manage a variety of assignments, work quickly and effectively under deadlines, and prioritize activities and risk.</li><li>Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team including ability to promote positive collaboration within the legal team, with other Company personnel, and with outside counsel.</li></ul>Additional Information<ul><li>This position’s work mode is&nbsp;hybrid.&nbsp;The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days.  Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to work and&nbsp;reside in the state of California.  Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage.&nbsp;The work mode can be changed based on business needs.</li><li>Visit our&nbsp;Candidate Resource&nbsp;page to get meaningful information related to benefits, perks, resources, testing information, hiring process, and more!</li><li>Qualified applications with arrest or conviction records will be considered for employment in accordance with the Los Angeles County Fair Chance Ordinance for Employers and the California Fair Chance Act. </li><li>Position will require up to 5%&nbsp;traveling and being out in the field throughout the&nbsp;SCE service territory.&nbsp;</li><li>Relocation does not apply to this position.</li></ul>About Southern California EdisonThe people at SCE don't just keep the lights on.
