This role requires a leader who can operate effectively in complex systems, bring clarity to ambiguous problem spaces, and partner closely with Product, Architecture, and Business stakeholders while providing strong technical leadership through design, standards, and coaching.Key Responsibilities<ul><li>Lead, mentor, and coach a team of software engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning, inclusivity, and high technical standards.</li><li>Build, manage, and develop an engineering team of approximately 6–10 engineers, including hiring, onboarding, performance management, and career development.</li><li>Own end-to-end delivery and operational accountability for the Commercial Loyalty technology domain, spanning legacy platforms and modern cloud-native services.</li><li>Partner closely with Product, Business, Architecture, and senior technology leadership to define and execute domain-level technology strategy, roadmaps, and delivery priorities.</li><li>Translate complex business requirements into scalable, maintainable technical solutions, guiding teams through system design and implementation.</li><li>Lead teams through complex architectural decisions, evaluating multiple approaches, articulating tradeoffs, and influencing stakeholders toward sound technical outcomes.</li><li>Establish and sustain a strong culture of quality engineering, including automated testing, QA automation, and shift-left quality practices across the software development lifecycle.</li><li>Drive adoption and continuous improvement of CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, and release automation to enable fast, safe, and repeatable delivery.</li><li>Ensure security, compliance, and resilience are built into system design and delivery through secure coding practices, automated security controls, and strong production readiness standards.</li><li>Lead modernization and continuous improvement initiatives focused on reliability, scalability, observability, automation, and developer experience.</li><li>Coordinate delivery across globally distributed teams, proactively managing risks, dependencies, tradeoffs, and execution challenges.</li><li>Leverage metrics, feedback, and operational data to continuously improve software quality, team performance, and delivery outcomes.</li></ul>Education and Knowledge<ul><li>Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or comparable experience; advanced degree preferred.</li><li>Strong knowledge of distributed (multi-tiered) systems, algorithms, relational databases, and NoSQL technologies.</li><li>Deep familiarity with the tools and practices used to plan, design, build, test, deploy, and operate enterprise software systems.</li></ul>Minimum Qualifications<ul><li>10+ years of software engineering or related experience delivering complex systems.</li><li>5+ years of experience leading and managing software engineering teams, including hiring, coaching, performance management, and talent development.</li><li>Demonstrated experience partnering with Product and Business stakeholders to shape requirements, define solutions, and deliver outcomes.</li><li>Strong background in application design, software development, and automated testing practices.</li><li>Experience building and operating distributed systems and microservices architectures, including REST-based services and event-driven platforms (e.g., Kafka).</li><li>Hands-on experience with modern development practices and cloud-native stacks, including Go, containerization (Docker), orchestration (Kubernetes), and CI/CD tooling.</li><li>Experience with relational and NoSQL databases.</li><li>Experience with rules engines or complex decisioning systems (e.g., Comcast Rulio or similar technologies).</li><li>Experience working in Agile development environments (Scrum and/or Kanban).</li></ul>Preferred Qualifications<ul><li>Prior experience owning or stabilizing a complex, business-critical technology domain.</li><li>Background in Commercial, Loyalty, Payments, or Mobile platforms.</li><li>Track record of leading teams through ambiguity, modernization, or non-trivial technical change.</li></ul>Salary Range: $123,000.00 to $215,250.00 annually + bonus + benefitsThe above represents the expected salary range for this job requisition.
