Job Summary
Reporting directly to Director of Legislation and Advancement, this paid Intern will support the day-to-day operations of the Government &amp; Public Relations Department during its busiest time of the year – the annual session of the Tennessee General Assembly. Throughout the course of the internship, much time will be spent watching legislative committee meetings and floor sessions, tracking legislation, and assisting other TBR staff and dignitaries who may visit the Capitol from time to time (including the annual TBR “Day on the Hill”). Research and analysis of proposed legislation will be an important part of the Intern’s role and will be conducted on the Hill in Nashville, remotely, or at the TBR System Office. Other responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, producing external communications pieces, scheduling meetings, preparing meeting materials and documents, and constituent case work and investigation. Given the pace and rigor of the legislative session, it is important to note that some days will be longer than others. The term of the internship will end two weeks after the adjournment of the annual legislative session.

When not actively traveling, you will be based in our Home Market (Nashville, TN), providing essential support remotely and contributing to crucial internal initiatives such as vehicle upfitting for expanding markets and supporting Owned &amp; Operated (O&amp;O) Autonomous Vehicle Partner markets as needed.Test Fleet Triage &amp; Monitoring:<ul><li>Technical Point of Contact: Serve as the primary technical and service-related point of contact for all issues arising from vehicles operating within our Core Market, Market Entry, and Weather Test programs, providing expert guidance and support.</li><li>Initial Diagnosis and Triage: Perform initial diagnosis and comprehensive triage of reported vehicle issues, both remotely and potentially on-site, to accurately determine the severity, identify the root cause, and establish the most effective resolution path.</li><li>Proactive Vehicle Health Monitoring: Actively monitor vehicle health, performance data, and operational status across all assigned test fleets using advanced diagnostic tools and fleet management software to anticipate potential issues.</li><li>Cross-functional Coordination: Coordinate seamlessly with engineering teams, remote support personnel, and local field teams to ensure the timely and efficient troubleshooting and resolution of all vehicle faults and operational discrepancies.</li></ul>Operational Support &amp; Reporting:<ul><li>Stakeholder Communication: Provide regular, detailed updates and comprehensive reports to key internal stakeholders on test fleet health metrics, emerging issue trends, and all field support activities, ensuring transparent communication and informed decision-making.</li><li>Process Improvement Identification: Proactively identify and propose opportunities for continuous process improvements related to field service operations and the overall support of our test vehicle fleet, contributing to enhanced efficiency and effectiveness.</li><li></li></ul>Non-Travel Week Responsibilities:<ul><li>Vehicle Upfitting: Lead or support the upfitting of vehicles for expanding markets, ensuring vehicles are properly configured and equipped for new operational environments.</li><li>O&amp;O Market Support: Provide direct support to Owned &amp; Operated (O&amp;O) markets as needed, addressing technical challenges and contributing to the smooth operation of our vehicle fleet in these critical locations.</li></ul>Qualifications:<ul><li>Automotive Technical Expertise: Proven, extensive experience in automotive diagnostics, repair, and comprehensive fleet maintenance (e.g., Master Technician level certification or equivalent practical experience demonstrating mastery of automotive systems).</li><li>Fleet Management and Leadership Experience: Demonstrated experience in a fleet management, field service coordination, or technical support lead role, showcasing the ability to manage and optimize fleet operations.</li><li>In-depth Vehicle Systems Knowledge: Strong understanding of complex vehicle systems, encompassing mechanical, electrical, and software components.
