Enforce the state, local and federal laws; enforce college policies and procedures; and provide a variety of security and enforcement services that promotes and maintains a safe campus. 
Job Duties:
The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned. Make arrests and assist in the prosecution of violators of the law. Enforce traffic and parking regulations. Respond to routine calls for assistance including safety escorts, transport of money on and off the campus, and motorist assistance. Assist students, faculty, and other campus visitors with questions, directions, issuing temporary parking permits, opening and closing buildings and classrooms, and various other activities. Performs CPR, First Aid, and use AED equipment as needed. Reports unsafe conditions. Develop partnerships with the campus community and serve as a proactive resource to a uniquely diverse population. Operate law enforcement equipment (including lethal and non-lethal weapons necessary in the performance of required duties). Use of records management system, monthly reporting, college work order system, and other law enforcement related computer systems. May oversee temporary employees under certain circumstances. May represent the department at college meetings or functions. May perform dispatch functions. May be required to work overtime and/or be on call and to be able to respond to emergencies within a reasonable time. Other duties as assigned.&nbsp;
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED equivalent. Must be at least 21 years of age. Graduate of an accredited, approved police academy and be a certified police officer meeting all the requirements for P.O.S.T certification in Tennessee. Meet the requirements of TCA 38-8-106 and TCA 38-8-107 Qualifications of Police Officers. Out of state applicants are required to meet Tennessee P.O.S.T certification requirements within six (6) months of hire. Prior law enforcement experience as full-time certified officer must be within the past three (3) years. Must attend and successfully complete, annually, a department authorized and P.O.S.T approved in-service training course consisting of forty (40) hours of instruction. Must have not been convicted of or pleaded guilty to or entered a plea of nolo contendere to any felony charge or to any violation of any federal or state laws or city ordinances relating to force, violence, theft, dishonesty, gambling, liquor or controlled substances. Possess a valid Tennessee driver’s license. Out of state applicants must obtain a Tennessee driver’s license within thirty (30) days of hire. Have good moral character as determined by a thorough investigation conducted by the employing agency; and/or the POST Commission. Pass a medical examination including vision screening and drug testing. Pass a psychological evaluation. Must successfully complete the department field training program within designated time frame. The Patrol Officer (Police Officer 1) supports students, faculty, staff, and campus visitors by monitoring activity on campus for the purpose of maintaining peace and enforcing laws and supports the college by ensuring a safe educational and work environment. The Henry County Campus (HCC) is the home campus for this position. However, the officer may be required to perform police duties at the other DSCC campus locations.&nbsp;
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Performs foot and vehicle patrols of campus to preserve the peace and enforce the rules and regulations of the college, state, federal and local laws, directs and manages vehicular traffic, secures and unlocks campus areas as needed.
Responds to calls for service; investigates motor vehicle incidents, criminal offenses, and non-criminal incidents; and takes appropriate law enforcement or investigative action.&nbsp; Monitors and reviews security camera recordings to assist in investigations and to ensure safety for the campus community.
Conducts investigations of crimes or incidents committed or occurring on campus; seeks out and questions victims, witnesses, and suspects; develops leads and tips; searches crime scenes; analyzes and evaluates evidence; arrests offenders; prepares cases for giving testimony and testifies in court and disciplinary proceedings.
Assists students, faculty, staff, and visitors as needed and otherwise protects and serves. Assists with emergency planning for the campuses.&nbsp; Participates in emergency management and safety training and coordination. Conducts safety equipment checks as assigned. Maintains Tennessee P.O.ST certification by attending training as necessary.&nbsp; Attends additional training as required and needed for the college and department.

Must meet or exceed the minimum standard requirements as per TCA 38-8-106.

Title: Project Reroute Coordinator
POSITION SUMMARY The Coordinator of the Nashville State Project Reroute oversees a support program for justice-impacted learners attending main campus locations as part of the Correctional Education Initiative. Programming and services aim to support the college’s 2030 vision, which focuses on increasing persistence rates (Fall to Spring retention), retention rates (Fall to Fall retention), and 3-year graduation rates. This aligns with Nashville State’s Vision of achieving equitable outcomes for our varied community of learners.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Serve as an academic and career advisor and advocate for cohort students. Work with subpopulation students to address barriers to admission. Collaborate with academic affairs, admissions, student success initiatives, and financial aid to address barriers specific to justice impacted students. Connect cohort students to appropriate resources both in and out of the college.
Creation, implementation, and scheduling of periodic workshops for students to address topics including but not limited to: software training, study skills, career and goal planning, financial literacy, mental health/mindset support. Create, implement and supervise peer-mentoring program. Develop and disseminate outreach materials both internally and externally to the college.
