The Housekeeper cleans patient rooms and general areas, makes beds, removes trash and linen in occupied and unoccupied rooms in accordance with departmental procedures. The Housekeeper performs cycle cleaning and furniture placement as directed. Through effective communication and cooperative teamwork, the Housekeeper provides assistance to supervisors and co-workers as necessary. The Housekeeper responds to patient and visitor inquiries in a courteous manner. QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION: Ability to read, write, and speak English is required. EXPERIENCE: Prior experience helpful, but not required. PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS: Demonstrates the ability to perform the department specific competencies as listed on the Assessment and Evaluation Tool for this position. WORK ENVIRONMENT: Potential for exposure to the hazards and risk of the hospital environment, including exposure to infectious disease, blood-borne pathogens, hazardous substances, and potential injury. Physical demands include but are not limited to excessive walking, standing, and lifting up to approximately 50 lbs.
