Our employees make all the difference in our success!Role: Under RN supervision, the Hospice LPN is responsible for providing nursing interventions and teaching skills to maximize patient comfort and to enhance the quality of life to the patient/family unit.Qualifications:<ul><li>A high school diploma or G.E.D. or an equivalent combination of education and experience</li><li>Current LPN licensure in the state of Florida, or current licensure from another state plus a temporary Florida permit</li><li>Minimum of one (1) year nursing experience in an in-patient, hospice, or home health setting</li><li>Mobile Driver - Valid driver’s license and automobile insurance per Company policy</li><li>Active BLS for healthcare professionals from the American Heart Association or Red Cross. Employees hired prior to 12/31/2022 must obtain certificate prior to 10/1/2023</li><li>Reliable transportation to meet visit schedule</li><li>Certificate of completion of 30 hour Infusion Therapy Course and in-house 8-hour Infusion Class preferred</li><li>Ability to communicate (written and verbal) in English</li><li>Flexible schedule to meet the needs of patients</li><li>Ability to use equipment with visual and auditory mechanisms</li><li>Ability to manage the emotional stress of working with and caring for terminally ill patients and their families</li><li>Ability to perform the essential functions and physical requirements (including, but not limited to: lifting patients and/or equipment, bending, pushing/pulling, kneeling) of the job with or without reasonable accommodation</li></ul>Competencies:<ul><li>Satisfactorily complete competency requirements for this position.</li></ul>Responsibilities of all employees:<ul><li>Represent the Company professionally at all times through care delivered and/or services provided to all clients.</li><li>Comply with all State, federal and local government regulations, maintaining a strong position against fraud and abuse.</li><li>Comply with Company policies, procedures and standard practices.</li><li>Observe the Company’s health, safety and security practices.</li><li>Maintain the confidentiality of patients, families, colleagues and other sensitive situations within the Company.</li><li>Use resources in a fiscally responsible manner.</li><li>Promote the Company through participation in community and professional organizations.</li><li>Participate proactively in improving performance at the organizational, departmental and individual levels.</li><li>Improve own professional knowledge and skill level.</li><li>Advance electronic media skills.</li><li>Support Company research and educational activities.</li><li>Share expertise with co-workers both formally and informally.</li><li>Participate in Quality Assessment and Performance Improvement activities as appropriate for the position.</li></ul>Job Responsibilities:<ul><li>Under the direction of an RN, provides nursing tasks to patients and families such as continuous care, dressing changes, catheter changes as identified in the plan of care developed by the Interdisciplinary Group (IDG).</li><li>Demonstrates clinical skills regarding application of Company policies and procedures such as:&nbsp; medication administration, symptom management, and patient/family relationships.</li><li>Observes/monitors patients for alterations in body systems, pain and symptoms and reports to RN.</li><li>Observes and reports signs of adverse reactions and responses to treatments and reports to RN.</li><li>Reports findings to physicians, APRNs and physician’s assistants following collaboration with RN.</li><li>Performs venipuncture for blood specimens.</li><li>Performs Central Venous Line (CVL) site observation/inspection; &nbsp;venous access device dressing, cap change and flushing venous access device; IV medication and fluid administration, IV pushes (per procedure) and venipuncture.&nbsp; May not make any changes to infusion pump including, but not limited to, rate changes and IV bag changes.&nbsp;</li><li>Documents per policy and procedure in medical record.</li><li>Performs other duties as assigned.</li></ul>Some locations may require:<ul><li>Cross training to Hospice House positions of equal licensure/certification and scope when census calls for flexible staffing.</li></ul>This position requires consent to drug and/or alcohol testing after a conditional offer of employment is made, as well as on-going compliance with the Drug-Free Workplace Policy.
