Professor to build the Mining Engineering ProgramThe College of Engineering (CoEN) and the Department of Metallurgical, Materials and Biomedical Engineering (MMBME) at The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) invite applications for a faculty position at an advanced rank to begin in the fall of 2025. The Mining Engineering program builds on the rich legacy of mining at UTEP and in the region. Through community action, the university was formed in 1914 as the State School for Mines and Metallurgy before joining the University of Texas System in 1919 as the Texas College of Mines and Metallurgy. Mining Engineering continued to be offered until 1966. Associate/Full Professor in Civil EngineeringThe University of Texas at El Paso seeks a highly qualified full Professor to join its College of Engineering and play a pivotal role in developing a Regional Water Institute. The faculty member will have the opportunity to be appointed in the Department of Civil Engineering at the rank of full Professor. Postdoctoral Fellow - Public Health SciencesThe University of Texas at El Paso College of Health Sciences invites applications for a full-time Postdoctoral Fellow position in the Department of Public Health Sciences diabetes research group. This role offers the opportunity to work on the implementation of science diabetes intervention research projects focused on community diabetes education programs. The Department of Public Health Sciences conducts culturally-centered diabetes intervention research and is dedicated to expanding and scaling interventions at community and organizational levels. This research incorporates curriculum development, health messaging/communication, and community engagement methodologies. By leveraging our access to a predominantly Hispanic population, we aim to develop effective prevention and treatment strategies for diabetes prevention and management. The successful candidate will engage in intervention research, contribute to grant writing, prepare manuscripts for publication, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.Essential Functions:• Design and implement translational and implementation science using mixed-methods research.• Conducted clinical trials with human subjects, including assessments of behavioral and physical diabetes prevention/management outcomes, and sociocultural factors.• Prepare and submit IRB applications, ensuring compliance with ethical research practices.• Collect, analyze, and manage complex research data sets.• Prepare manuscripts for publication and present research findings at professional conferences.• Contribute to grant writing efforts.• Assist with the overall management and coordination of ongoing research projects within the Department of Public Health Sciences.• Collaborate with and mentor undergraduate and graduate students in research methodologies and project execution.Job Requirements:Successful candidates will have earned a Ph.D. in a relevant field (such as Public Health, Health Sciences, or Health Psychology) by the appointment date. Applicants must demonstrate a proven track record in conducting human subjects research, particularly those focused on diabetes prevention and management. In addition, preferred candidates should exhibit technical proficiency in survey design and quantitative and qualitative analysis and evaluation.Candidates should have a strong record of research productivity, including successful internal and external grant writing efforts and effective manuscript preparation/publications in peer-reviewed venues. Familiarity with Institutional Review Board (IRB) processes and regulatory compliance is also required, along with robust skills in the collection, analysis, and management of complex research data.Candidates should demonstrate the ability to work effectively within interdisciplinary research teams and a strong commitment to translational research. Clinical Assistant Professor in Social WorkThe University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) College of Health Sciences invites applications for a full-time Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Social Work. This is a 9-month appointment with potential for summer teaching. The successful applicant will be a licensed social worker (LMSW, LCSW, and LCSW-S) with an academic doctorate (preferably PhD or DSW) in social work or a related field. Job responsibilities include teaching, some scholarly activity (e.g., manuscript submissions, and conference presentations), and service to the program, college, university, community, and profession. The anticipated appointment date is Fall 2026. The ideal candidate will excel at incorporating active-learning strategies in teaching and social work practice.
