This position is designed for early-career doctors seeking to gain practical experience in anesthesia and perioperative medicine under close supervision, with strong emphasis on clinical skill development, patient-centered care, and inter-professional collaboration.Key Responsibilities<ul><li>Preoperative Assessment<ul><li>Conduct throughout preoperative evaluations, including review of medical history, physical examination, and relevant investigations.</li><li>Identify and communicate potential anesthesia-related risks to the supervising consultant</li><li>Assist in developing individualized anesthesia plans to ensure optimal patient outcomes.</li></ul></li><li>Intraoperative Care<ul><li>Participate in the delivery of anesthesia under supervision, ensuring the safety, comfort, and stability of patients during surgical procedures.</li><li>Monitor vital signs, manage airway support, and assist in intraoperative interventions as directed.</li><li>Collaborate with surgeons, anesthetists, nurses, and other perioperative staff to maintain a safe surgical environment.</li></ul></li><li>Postoperative Review<ul><li>Conduct post-anesthesia rounds to monitor recovery and manage any complications or concerns.</li><li>Document postoperative findings and communicate issues requiring escalation to the supervising team.</li></ul></li><li>Clinical Skill Development<ul><li>Gain hands-on experience in key anesthesia-related procedures, including:<ul><li>Airway management</li><li>Vascular access (IV/arterial lines)</li><li>Regional anesthesia techniques (e.g. neuraxial and peripheral nerve blocks)</li></ul></li></ul></li><li>Shift and Roster Responsibilities<ul><li>Participate in rostered duties that include day, night and weekend shifts as required by the department.</li><li>A minimum of two hours per week is protected for participation in formal medical education and learning opportunities.</li></ul></li><li>Education and Training<ul><li>Actively engage in department-led teaching sessions, journal clubs, simulations and other learning activities.</li><li>Work under the direct supervision of senior medical staff with opportunities for feedback, mentorship, and professional growth.</li><li>Eligibility and Qualifications</li></ul></li><li>Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited medical school</li><li>Eligible for or currently holding a limited permit or full medical license to practice in NY State.</li><li>Successful completion of USMLE Steps 1 and 2 or COMPLEX Levels 1 and 2, as applicable.</li><li>Valid BLS and ACLS via AHA.</li></ul>
