Job Summary This is a 12-bed progressive care unit located in Pavilion A, that provides care for patients with a wide variety of conditions including head and neck cancers, ENT conditions, and reconstructive plastic surgery, with a heavy emphasis on post-surgical care. RNs on this unit provide care to patients who are moderately stable, with fluctuating patient acuity, have complex needs and require comprehensive care. This unit is a universal bed area which includes acute and progressive level care. The universal bed model includes frequent RN assessments and more intensive level of care/monitoring including progressive care/telemetry. As a part of this unit, the RN serves as an important component of the interdisciplinary progressive care team. This team is responsible for closely monitoring the patient’s physiologic condition, performing frequent treatments as ordered by the physician, and providing a safe transition from progressive to acute care. The primary responsibilities for this position consist of providing total, comprehensive, continuous and patient centered care which includes: assessing, documenting, planning, implementing, teaching, developing, and evaluating a comprehensive nursing plan of care; delivering direct patient care; ensuring patient satisfaction; training and delegating duties for Nursing Care Technicians (Nursing Assistant); and adhering to University policies and procedures as well as federal, state and local regulations. Furthermore, this environment supports collaborative efforts among the nursing staff and the team of physicians to increase communication and enhance expected patient outcomes. <h4>How you'll change lives</h4>As a Dietitian at U.S. Renal Care, you will be an integral part of an interdisciplinary team, providing excellent care for patients living with kidney disease. U.S. Renal care dietitians work under the supervision of a RDN Regional Manager. <h4>What you'll be doing</h4>Patient Nutrition. Using the most current, science-based practices, you will recommend therapeutic diets based on patient nutritional needs, preferences, and changes in treatment, in consultation with the patient's physician. You will review lab results and provide appropriate education for nutritional interventions on such topics as fluid and sodium, potassium, and CKD-Mineral and Bone Disorder management. You will also conduct patient assessments and care planning activities, as well as participating in monthly interdisciplinary patient care conferences. Teamwork. You will collaborate with the Medical Director, physician/advanced practice provider, facility administrator, social worker, nurse, and patient care technician to maintain positive relationships with area hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, agencies, vendors, and the community.Safety &amp; Quality.
