The successful candidate will play an integral role in ongoing studies exploring how the PI3K-mTOR signaling network is altered in cancer, diabetes, and aging, and how targeting components of the signaling network might lead to new insights into how to treat or prevent these conditions. Research is particularly focused on how this signaling network is integrated with metabolic networks to control cell growth and systemic nutrient metabolism. Ongoing studies employ genetics, biochemistry, cell biology, and animal models combined with unbiased systems-level tools, including genomics, proteomics, metabolomics, and bioinformatics. Our work leverages an interdisciplinary toolkit—including tissue imaging, single-cell sequencing, and in vitro culture systems—to elucidate how these cells operate during the late stages of Alzheimer’s disease.The Research Assistant will perform a variety of laboratory research tasks related to our projects investigating cell–cell interactions in tauopathy and their impact on disease progression. The work will be performed under specific direction, and the research assistant may be asked to perform familiar tasks independently. The ideal candidate is well organized and motivated, has strong communication skills, and works well with a multidisciplinary team of researchers.Typical responsibilities include:<ul><li>Handling and maintaining animal colonies, including colony tracking and genotyping.</li><li>Carrying out behavioral and molecular experiments and research according to protocols given by lab members. Our research is focused on understanding neuronal metabolism and how it is influenced by – and influences – neuronal activity and excitability. The lab develops tools for studying neural metabolism, including engineered proteins that function as fluorescent biosensors of metabolism, and we study the dynamics of metabolism in mouse brain using both ex vivo and in vivo imaging methods. We also work to learn the role of altered metabolism in preventing epileptic seizures, inspired by the ability of ketogenic diets to treat human epilepsy. The successful candidate will work under close supervision by Dr. Yellen and others in the lab to:1) Manage a moderate size mouse colony, including genotyping and performing mouse surgery (stereotactic injection of viral expression vectors);2) Perform molecular biology procedures including plasmid DNA preparation, PCR, subcloning, biochemical assays, bacterial expression of fluorescent proteins, and fluorescence analysis; and&nbsp;3) Perform a small amount of tissue culture (cell line maintenance and transfection).&nbsp;There may also be the opportunity to do semi-independent projects on fluorescent biosensor development. The successful candidate should be well-organized, motivated, and a responsible team member.

materials&nbsp;</li></ul>Anticoagulation Management Nurse&nbsp;<ul><li>Provides initial and continuing patient education regarding the use and management of anticoagulants and their inherent risks, as outlined in Anticoagulation Protocols.&nbsp;</li><li>Receives and interprets daily laboratory results relating to those patients enrolled in the anticoagulation service.&nbsp;&nbsp;</li><li>Uses policy algorithms and best clinical judgment in making decisions regarding anticoagulant dosage adjustments and patient reevaluation.&nbsp;</li><li>Considers and refers any patient appropriate for independent INR monitoring.&nbsp;</li><li>Reassesses patient understanding and compliance on a periodic and as needed basis, particularly in response to unexpected INR results or patient non-adherence.&nbsp;</li><li>Collaborates with primary care physicians in the initiation and ongoing management of patients’ anticoagulation, duration of treatment, special considerations, and patient
