Job Description Job Summary: The Albertin Lab at Harvard University studies the evolution of developmental patterning mechanisms using cephalopods and other molluscs as model systems. We employ diverse approaches, including gene expression analyses, lineage tracing, live imaging, and CRISPR-mediated gene manipulation to probe molecular and cellular mechanisms driving the development of molluscan brains and body plans, with the goal of revealing fundamental principles underlying the evolution of development. We are seeking a Research Assistant II to support our growing lab needs. 
Job-Specific Responsibilities: This position will report directly to the Principal Investigator and perform the following duties:<ul><li>Leads laboratory experiments utilizing standard techniques and equipment;</li><li>Collects data related to cephalopod embryology and genomics;</li><li>Handles animal care;</li><li>Performs microscopy and data analysis;</li><li>Performs general laboratory maintenance such as maintaining and cleaning equipment and ordering supplies;</li><li>May process orders or invoices, or undertake other duties under the direction of administrative personnel;</li><li>Other related duties as necessary.</li></ul>This position requires the individual to work occasional nights and/or weekends.

Job Description The Datta Lab in the Department of Neurobiology is seeking a Research Assistant to support research aimed at understanding how Alzheimer’s disease (AD) risk genes influence the function of innate immune cells. Our work leverages an interdisciplinary toolkit—including tissue imaging, single-cell sequencing, and in vitro culture systems—to elucidate how these cells operate during the late stages of Alzheimer’s disease.The Research Assistant will perform a variety of laboratory research tasks related to our projects investigating cell–cell interactions in tauopathy and their impact on disease progression. The work will be performed under specific direction, and the research assistant may be asked to perform familiar tasks independently. The ideal candidate is well organized and motivated, has strong communication skills, and works well with a multidisciplinary team of researchers.Typical responsibilities include:<ul><li>Handling and maintaining animal colonies, including colony tracking and genotyping.</li><li>Carrying out behavioral and molecular experiments and research according to protocols given by lab members. Job Description The Brugge Laboratory at Harvard Medical School is seeking a highly motivated Bioinformaticist II to join a dynamic team of researchers working on understanding ovarian cancer initiation and drug resistance. With our collaborators, we have access to valuable patient samples derived from matched pre- and post-chemotherapy-treated patients. The Bioinformaticist II will collaborate with investigators in the Brugge lab and partner labs to perform bioinformatics analyses, statistical modeling, and hypothesis generation from large-scale, multi-modal patient-derived datasets.This position will work with other scientists to define different states of epithelial/tumor and stromal cells in ovarian tumor samples before and after chemotherapy. The lab uses advanced single cell approaches to profile the genetic, epigenetic and transcriptomic landscape to identify strategies to prevent therapy resistance. They integrate this information with high-throughput immunofluorescence microscopy to locate cells of interest in situ. This position will play a key scientific role leveraging computational strategies and bioinformatics tools and analysis methods expertise expertise to identify the critical programs involved in ovarian cancer therapy resistance.In this role, the person will have a path to grow and thrive through unique opportunities to examine patient-matched ovarian cancer datasets. The person would be able to pursue innovative approaches to address fundamental biological questions of tumor biology while advancing their knowledge of cancer biology alongside some of the brightest minds in cancer research.Analysis scenarios will involve applying cutting-edge bioinformatics, statistics, ML/AI, and data analysis methods integrating clinical and multi-modal data sets from donor tissues and from oncology clinical studies. Data types include scRNAseq, scATACseq, spatial transcriptomics, among others. This role offers a path for scientific growth and innovation, including opportunities to publish in high-impact journals and contribute to the development of preventive and therapeutic strategies for ovarian cancer. Our research is focused on understanding neuronal metabolism and how it is influenced by – and influences – neuronal activity and excitability. The lab develops tools for studying neural metabolism, including engineered proteins that function as fluorescent biosensors of metabolism, and we study the dynamics of metabolism in mouse brain using both ex vivo and in vivo imaging methods. We also work to learn the role of altered metabolism in preventing epileptic seizures, inspired by the ability of ketogenic diets to treat human epilepsy. The successful candidate will work under close supervision by Dr. Yellen and others in the lab to:1) Manage a moderate size mouse colony, including genotyping and performing mouse surgery (stereotactic injection of viral expression vectors);2) Perform molecular biology procedures including plasmid DNA preparation, PCR, subcloning, biochemical assays, bacterial expression of fluorescent proteins, and fluorescence analysis; and&nbsp;3) Perform a small amount of tissue culture (cell line maintenance and transfection).&nbsp;There may also be the opportunity to do semi-independent projects on fluorescent biosensor development. The successful candidate should be well-organized, motivated, and a responsible team member.
