The ERM Framework, Governance and Reporting team within ERM&amp;RO provides an independent view of risks faced by American Express and is responsible for aggregating the risk profile for the Company. The team is focused on key risk management activities, including but not limited to, risk identification and assessment, risk appetite, effective challenge, and committee governance and reporting. These responsibilities span the AXP Bank Holding Company as well as the subsidiary US Bank (American Express National Bank).The Director of Enterprise Risk Management, Risk Acceptance, is responsible for the risk acceptance program as part of the independent risk management function. Effective independent risk management is achieved by identifying, measuring, monitoring, or controlling risk at the aggregate, individual or initiative level Risks. This is supported by an organizational reporting structure which enables independent risk management to maintain its independence from front line units. Specific responsibilities for the Director of Enterprise Risk Management, Risk Acceptance, include:<ul><li>Maintain a deep understanding of various Interagency Supervisory Guidance on Risk Management, including, but not limited to: OCC Heightened Standards, Internal Control booklet of the Comptroller’s Handbook, Corporate and Risk Governance booklet of the Comptroller’s Handbook, Large bank Supervision booklet of the Comptroller’s Handbook.</li><li>Lead the design, maintenance, and oversight of the risk acceptance framework, policies, and procedures</li><li>Establish clear roles, responsibilities, and thresholds for risk acceptance processes across the enterprise</li><li>Develop and provide appropriate guidance documents and training material to facilitate implementation of the risk acceptance program</li><li>Coordinate with stakeholders at the enterprise and line of businesses to facilitate alignment across the organization</li><li>Develop and implement processes to monitor adherence to risk acceptance requirements and accepted risks through their lifecycle</li><li>Develop periodic reporting on risk acceptances for senior management and the board</li><li>Analyze portfolio of risk acceptances to uncover themes and report on any identified themes</li><li>Assist with periodic reviews and requests for information from Internal Audit and various stakeholders across risk</li><li>Oversee and provide coaching to the Enterprise Risk Management team</li></ul>Qualifications:<ul><li>Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, business administration, or related field; advanced degree required.</li><li>Minimum 8 years of experience in enterprise risk management, or similar risk management discipline, within the financial services industry.</li><li>Strong understanding of financial markets, products, and regulatory requirements impacting risk management.</li><li>Proven track record of designing and implementing enterprise-wide risk management frameworks and methodologies.</li><li>Excellent analytical, communication, and influencing skills with the ability to interact effectively with senior stakeholders.</li><li>Demonstrated leadership capabilities, including the ability to build and motivate high-performing teams.</li><li>Professional certifications such as FRM, PRM, or CRM are highly desirable.</li></ul>Salary Range: $130,000.00 to $205,000.00 annually + bonus + equity (if applicable) + benefitsThe above represents the expected salary range for this job requisition.
