Job Duties:

Lead brand management initiatives that strengthen the College’s regional identity and support institutional goals. Direct the development of advertising campaigns, promotional initiatives, and creative strategies that highlight academic programs, career pathways, and student success. Lead the development and protection of the Vol State brand to ensure consistency across all campuses, departments, and platforms. Monitor emerging issues and develop proactive strategies to mitigate reputational risk. Lead all crisis and emergency communication efforts, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and alignment with the College’s emergency response protocols. Maintain a comprehensive crisis communication plan, including messaging templates and training for campus leaders. Coordinate closely with the President, Chief of Staff, Campus Police, and Emergency Management teams during emergencies or sensitive situations. Maintain strong relationships with community partners, civic organizations, education leaders, and regional stakeholders. Represent the College at community events, outreach activities, and public forums to enhance visibility and partnerships. Support Advancement and Alumni Relations with donor communications, branding for fundraising initiatives, and event promotion. Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree. Five years of related experience. Minimum of two years of supervisor responsibilities in a management role.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's Degree in public relations, journalism, mass communications, or marketing. Three to five years of proven experience in higher education public relations or a closely related field.

Ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with faculty, staff, and student populations. Exceptional communication, writing, editing and storytelling skills. POSITION SUMMARY This position is responsible for delivering quality instruction in Visual Communications.

Public Relations, Marketing, and External Relations
<ul>
<li>Establish and maintain relationships with key media outlets and community stakeholders to promote institutional initiatives.</li>
<li>Manage crisis communication strategies and responses, acting as the primary point of contact during challenging situations.</li>
<li>Coordinate outreach campaigns to support student recruitment, retention, and alumni relations.</li>
<li>Drive innovative use of social media and emerging platforms to reach diverse demographics.</li>
<li>Serve as the College’s primary spokesperson for media relations and public inquiries, responding to news inquiries from media outlets and overseeing the design and production of comprehensive media elements, including platform determination, bench-marking, and audience identification, to shape the College’s image and messaging.</li>
<li>Develop, coordinate, and execute communications strategies for presidential media relations, including speech writing (research and drafting) for the President.</li>
<li>Manages content for social media accounts and oversees work performed on behalf of the President.</li>

Minimum Qualifications
<ul>
<li>Master's degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related field.&nbsp; 
</li>
<li>At least eight (8) years of progressive experience in communications, marketing, or public relations, with a minimum of five (5) years in a senior leadership role.&nbsp; 
</li>
<li>Proven expertise in strategic planning, brand management, and team leadership.&nbsp; 
</li>
<li>Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills to facilitate executive level decision making.&nbsp; 
</li>
<li>Experience with budget planning and management, business case development, project management, and organizational change practices.&nbsp; 
</li>
<li>A background screening will be required for the successful candidate.  </li>
</ul>
Preferred Qualifications
<ul>
<li>At least ten (10) years of experience in communications management in higher education or nonprofit sectors, particularly alongside a president and/or senior leadership.&nbsp; 
</li>
<li>Experience in managing comprehensive branding campaigns that have measurably increased organizational visibility and engagement.&nbsp; 
</li>
<li>Established reputation and relationships with local, regional, and national media. </li>
</ul>

<li>Experience working in journalism, marketing, public relations, or strategic communications.&nbsp;

</li>

<li>Proven ability to lead and inspire a diverse team of professionals, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment&nbsp;

<li>Demonstrated experience with office management communication software/tools, and social media management.&nbsp;

<li>Exceptional ability to craft strategic messages tailored to diverse audiences across multiple platforms.&nbsp; 
</li>
<li>Proficiency with modern communication technologies, including social media management tools, content management systems, analytics software, and multimedia production tools.&nbsp; 
</li>
<li>Demonstrated experience in crisis communication and management, with the ability to lead the institution through complex situations while maintaining public trust and confidence. </li>

Job Title: Adjunct of Communications
Campus Location: Walters State Community College Morristown Campus (Employees are assigned to a “home” location but may occasionally or regularly be required to work at other WSCC locations.)
Job Purpose:&nbsp;The purpose of this position is to provide instruction for Speech Communication courses.
Essential Job Functions:
<ul>
<li>Teach COMM 2025 Fundamentals of Communication Courses offered primarily for conventional in-person classes with potential for some Hybrid or Desktop Video Courses through Microsoft Teams, Zoom or other technology.</li>
<li>Prepare course syllabi, course materials, evaluate student learning, and maintain class records.</li>
<li>Participate in curriculum development, student recruiting, advising, placement, and division/departmental meetings.</li>
<li>Complete goals and objectives for the individual, the department/division, and the college.</li>
<li>Complete educational outcome measures and academic reporting as required.</li>
<li>May perform other duties as assigned.</li>

Required Qualifications:

Environment &amp; Working Conditions:&nbsp;Office environment is temperature controlled with occasional fluctuations, well lit, and free from loud noises and unnecessary interruptions. This position requires travel and teaching in the high schools. Could be exposed to varying weather conditions when travelling.
