Open Rank in Quantum and Energy ScienceThe Department of Physics at The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) is seeking applications for open-rank positions in Quantum and Energy Science, broadly defined. Research areas include but are not limited to quantum computing, quantum information, quantum communication, quantum materials, quantum sensing, and quantum optics and quantum energy. Applicants in all areas of experimental and theoretical quantum science are encouraged to apply. These positions are created under the University of Texas System Regents' Research Excellence Program. Faculty hired into the rank of tenured full professor will be given the additional honorific title of Regents' Distinguished Research Professor. Faculty hired at a lower rank will earn this title upon promotion to full professor with tenure.Job Requirements:Applicants should hold a Ph.D. in Physics and have demonstrated long-term focus to physics research, possess postdoctoral experience, have a strong record of research accomplishments, and possess strong verbal and written communication skills. The successful senior-level candidates will be national or international leaders in their respective field, have demonstrated attention to promoting STEM education and research opportunities to pre-college, college and graduate students, have already established and maintained an independent externally funded research program that can be expanded upon, at UTEP, through collaborations with existing researchers in the department and by collaborating with other professors hired under this program. They must be able to teach at both undergraduate and graduate levels, perform service to the Department, College and University, and engage in outreach activities. The new hires will be core members of faculty of the Physics Graduate Program and instrumental in expanding team-based research in the Department of Physics. This prestigious position was established through an endowment from the Welch Foundation and is intended for a nationally recognized leader in chemical research. Professor in College of Health Sciences (2 Positions)The University of Texas at El Paso seeks a highly qualified full Professor to join its College of Health Sciences (CHS) and play a pivotal role in developing a Center for Diabetes and Metabolic Diseases. The faculty member will have the opportunity to be appointed in the Department(s) of Kinesiology, Public Health Sciences, or Social Work depending on the candidate's background and preference. Faculty hired into the rank of tenured full professor will be given the additional honorific title of Regent's Distinguished Research Professor; other RREP faculty can earn this title upon promotion to full professor with tenure. In this role, the faculty member will collaborate with current diabetes and metabolic disease researchers and lead initiatives addressing health inequities. They will play a critical role in shaping the strategic vision of the center, driving research, translation, implementation, and training efforts.The faculty member will be expected to collaborate closely with existing researchers within CHS who conduct multicultural and binational research. We are looking for a candidate to leverage their expertise to elevate the research portfolio of the college and the center. This will involve leading interdisciplinary teams, harnessing partnerships with community stakeholders, and pursuing external funding opportunities. By leveraging the collective knowledge and resources within CHS, the faculty member will drive innovation and excellence in research, ultimately advancing our understanding of diabetes and metabolic disorders and their practical applications for improving health outcomes in underserved communities.The successful candidate will have a demonstrated track record of securing external grants, a strong record of publications, and engaging in impactful research.
