The Quinebaug Valley State Trout Hatchery is located on approximately 2,000 acres of state-owned land and was constructed in 1971 at a cost of 2.5 million dollars. The water is supplied by 14 wells, each of which can produce from 100 to 800 gallons per minute providing the 3,000 gallons per minute necessary for fish production. This state-of-the-art numerical control facility is managed from the control center located in the main office where the operator can observe water quality, monitor well pumps, program feeding systems, program/access alarms and review historical trends of the facility. There is an onsite backup generator that can supply power to the entire complex as necessary. The secure spawning area and the hatch house are managed for disease prevention and monitored for quality assurance. The photoperiod (length of daylight) of the fish is manipulated for controlled growth patterns as determined by the needs of Fisheries Management efforts. Quinebaug is responsible for the production of the majority of the state's trout and has four main areas: The Hatch House is used to incubate and hatch the fish eggs. When the fish reach 3" in size, they are moved to the intermediate tanks. Intermediate Tanks consist of 30 circular tanks 20 feet in diameter. Each tank can hold up to 30,000 3" fish. The fish remain in these tanks until they are 6-8" in length when they are transferred to the outside grow out tanks. Grow Out Tanks consist of 40 outside circular tanks 50 feet in diameter. They are covered by netting to control predatory birds. Each tank can hold up to 13,000 6-8" fish. The trout will remain in these tanks until they are ready for stocking. Brood Stock Raceways consist of 20 raceways 50' long by 6' wide. Brood stock are the fish that provide the eggs needed for use in the hatch house. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: <ul><li>Provide Safety leadership.</li><li>Attend customer safety meetings.</li><li>Hold weekly safety meetings.</li><li>Assist the local team with any safety corporate safety goals</li><li>Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align EHS objectives with organizational goals and initiatives.</li><li>Use influencing skills to ensure the team values a strong EHS culture</li><li>Identify, develop, and drive process simplifications and improvements for the local workforce team.</li><li>Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as industry standards and best practices related to the upstream oil and gas market</li><li>Identify emerging EHS issues and trends and develop strategies to address them effectively.</li><li>Develop and deliver EHS training programs for employees, supervisors, and managers to increase awareness and promote adherence to safety protocols.</li><li>Foster and comply with procedures for reporting and investigating EHS incidents, including near-misses, accidents, and environmental spills.</li><li>Lead incident investigations to identify root causes, implement corrective actions, and prevent recurrence.</li><li>Conduct regular audits and inspections of facilities, worksites, and equipment to assess compliance with EHS regulations and company standards.</li><li>Serve as the primary point of contact for EHS-related inquiries and communications for the local customers.</li><li>Support customer EHS inquiries and discussions as they are related to conduct of Field activities.</li></ul> Qualifications Education and Experience Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent, college preferred. <ul><li>Minimum of 3 years of demonstrated EHS experience with a health and safety focus</li><li>have a strong health and safety background</li><li>be skilled at coaching and communicating EHS requirements to all levels of the organization.</li><li>be able to partner and influence across functional teams.</li><li>be able to handle multiple shifting demands with professionalism and good judgement while adapting to dynamic business &amp; industry situations.</li><li>be a considerate listener and clearly communicate ideas and solutions in a professional manner.</li><li>have strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire team members.</li><li>have excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex information effectively to diverse audiences.</li><li>have demonstrated EHS risk recognition and auditing skills (project / field work)</li></ul> We offer challenging projects and training to ensure you success.
