Position Summary&nbsp;


This position is primarily responsible for teaching in the Associate Degree Registered Nursing Program. Under the supervision of the Program Director, the primary responsibility of this full-time&nbsp;12-month&nbsp;faculty position is to provide quality instruction and supervision of student learning while maintaining a positive learning environment in the classroom. Teaching responsibilities include classroom and clinical instruction. The faculty responds to students in a timely manner and communicates with the discipline and division via college-provided tools and resources.&nbsp;The faculty also serves as a program liaison, assisting with accreditation and regulatory assignments.&nbsp;


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS&nbsp;

Maintains professional development/growth according to personal needs and requirements for certification.&nbsp;

Develops clinical practice objectives in order to identify clinical practice skills to be mastered using textbooks, agency procedures manuals and job descriptions, course syllabi,&nbsp;and accreditation criteria.&nbsp;

Selects and evaluates clinical facilities in order to provide the optimum learning environment for students using course objectives and knowledge of available clinical opportunities.&nbsp;

Identifies clinical practice experiences and client assignments in affiliating clinical agencies in order to provide&nbsp;the&nbsp;student with the optimum environment and opportunities to master (practice) clinical skills (competencies) using equipment and supplies in the campus practice laboratory, and client Kardex, charts and other medical records in clinical agencies.&nbsp;

Provides one-to-one supervision of student clinical practice performance in order to evaluate student mastery of clinical practice objectives and provide for the safety of all assigned clients using available clinical resources and clinical expertise.&nbsp;

Plans and conducts pre- and post-clinical conferences in order to facilitate&nbsp;clinical learning using group discussions, individual student presentations,&nbsp;and guest presenters.&nbsp;

Grades nursing care plans and other written assignments in order to determine the ability of the student to apply theoretical knowledge to the client care setting using written nursing care plan, grading criteria,&nbsp;and clinical practice guides.&nbsp;
</li>

Maintains records for clinical students in order to comply with clinical agency requirements and&nbsp;protect the student, clinical agencies,&nbsp;and the public using a variety of information sheets and forms.&nbsp;

Documents student clinical practice performance in order to provide a record of student progress or lack of progress towards mastery of required skills using course objectives, clinical evaluation forms, student counseling&nbsp;forms,&nbsp;and individual conferences.&nbsp;

Minimum Qualifications&nbsp;

Holds a Master's degree in Nursing from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning OR a Bachelor's degree in Nursing with completion of M.S.N degree within three years of employment&nbsp;

Holds a current unrestricted registered nursing license to practice as a registered nurse in Tennessee.&nbsp;
</li>

The role will be responsible for the following:
Under the supervision of the Program Director and/or Lead Faculty, Adjunct Instructors have as their chief duty the instruction of assigned classes, providing quality instruction for student learning and maintaining a positive learning environment in the classroom. Classes are taught in a variety of formats (virtual, online, hybrid, on-ground). Responsibilities for Adjunct Instructors include conducting classes using appropriate instructional practices, maintain records of attendance, evaluate student performance on assignments or lab activities, assign midterm grades, assign final grades, utilize faculty feedback, complete mandatory training as needed, and perform other duties as assigned. Beyond teaching responsibilities, Adjunct Instructors are also obligated to comply and support college policies as set forth in the Strategic Plan, the College Catalog, the Adjunct Faculty Handbook, and the Employment Agreement.
