Job Summary:
This position is responsible for providing guidance, instruction and leadership to registered nursing students enrolled in the Associate of Applied Science Degree in Nursing program at the assigned program site. Assist with evaluation, scheduling, and advising of students. Provide classroom and clinical instruction to students enrolled in the AASN program utilizing team teaching methodology in an academic environment.
Job Duties:&nbsp;Teach 28-32 hours per academic year via on ground, online, hybrid or web-enhanced modalities as assigned. Provide instruction in theory and clinical practice in one or more of the following nursing areas: Medical-Surgical, Women's Health-Mother/Infant, Mental Health/Psychiatric, Gerontology/Geriatrics or other nursing practice specialty. Instruction may include: Personal hygiene, client abuse, human sexuality, cultural diversity, ethnicity, nutrition (nursing, therapeutic aspects), pharmacology, legal, social and ethical aspects of nursing, nursing leadership and management. Participate in division activities associated with the instructional program. Communicate clearly with students and colleagues. Work effectively with traditional and non-traditional students including but not limited to the culturally and ethnically diverse. Demonstrate a willingness and commitment to extra-curricular responsibilities on behalf of the department of nursing, college and district. Participate in professional organizations related to nursing and teaching. Adapt to changes in the nursing program. Apply theories and principles of learning to instruction. Adapt instruction to the entry level knowledge and skills of students. Recommend course and program changes to the Division Dean when appropriate. Develop syllabi which meet college requirements and student needs. Use alternative instructional strategies where appropriate. Orient students to objectives and procedures before beginning instruction. Establish and communicate clearly defined grading procedures and standards. Use evaluations to revise and update content, objectives, and instructional strategies. Give examinations and other types of evaluations necessary to determine student level of performance and understanding. Keep students aware of their progress in the course. Perform record-keeping responsibilities related to teaching and advising. Respond in a timely fashion to all reasonable deadlines. Other duties as assigned.&nbsp;
Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum of a Master of Science Degree in Nursing from a regionally accredited college and at least 18 graduate semester hours in the discipline OR a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from a regionally accredited college and actively enrolled in a Master of Science in Nursing program. Must be endorsed with appropriate credentials of and unencumbered RN licensure in the State of Tennessee, CPR certification for healthcare professionals, advanced preparation and experience in a nursing practice specialty. Minimum of three years related work experience as an RN. 
Preferred Qualifications:
Collegiate level teaching experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge and/or experience using a variety of instructional delivery modes. Ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with a diverse faculty, staff, and student population. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
Pay Rate: $43,260 - $54,075 annual salary depending on experience

General Duties:
The part-time Clinical Adjunct is responsible for teaching and supervision of nursing students in on-campus classroom/lab and off-campus clinical settings; evaluating and advising students; maintaining records and completing reports; participating in the development of the program, and other assigned duties. This position reports to the Health Careers Coordinator. This part-time position will be for two 11-hour clinical days per week, Mondays and Wednesday, from 6:30 Am until 6:00 PM.

The Clinical Adjunct Instructor is responsible for performing the following duties:&nbsp;

<li>Guide students in selection, perception, and performance of suitable learning activities.</li>
<li>Organize class time effectively and efficiently in order that learning activities can be accomplished.</li>
<li>Start and end class at designated time.</li>
<li>Utilize individual and/or group instructional procedures appropriate to the requirements of the assigned activities and the students’ needs.</li>
<li>Supervise student conduct to ensure that the potentially hazardous clinics/labs/classrooms provide an orderly environment conducive to productivity.</li>
<li>Maintain a well-organized, safe, and clean clinic and/or classroom.</li>
<li>Advise students of the importance of safety in relation to machinery, tools, and equipment.</li>
<li>Investigate and make a full report on every accident on the day the accident occurs, using the “Preliminary Accident Report Form.”</li>
<li>Be responsible for equipment, tools, and supplies assigned to clinic and/or classroom.</li>
<li>Maintain an inventory of equipment, controls storage, repair, and usage of materials to minimize loss or abuse.</li>
<li>Keep and share with students continuously updated records of attendance and competencies acquired during their enrollment.</li>
<li>Evaluate each student’s progress at multiple intervals during each trimester and complete permanent records.</li>
<li>Assist, as directed by administration, in follow-up evaluations of graduates and their programs.</li>
<li>Attend and participate in various school functions such as graduation, open houses, and other functions as assigned by the Academic Coordinator.</li>
<li>Meet deadlines of yearly mandated training.</li>
<li>Perform other duties directly related to career and technical education as assigned by the Nursing Coordinator.</li>

Physical Demands and Working Conditions (ADA REQUIREMENTS)
Walking, climbing, bending, and stooping. Work performed in office, testing center and classroom environments. Position requires the use of a computer.
Sedentary Work – Walking or standing to a significant degree; sitting for brief periods of time; be able to bend and stoop; use body members (arms, hands, fingers).

PARSONS EXTENSION CAMPUS
The Tennessee College of Applied Technology Crump is accepting applications for the part-time position of Practical Nursing Adjunct Instructor at the Parsons Extension Campus.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
<ul>
<li>Must hold active licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Tennessee; BSN preferred.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Minimum three (3) years of experience in the nursing field within the last five (5) years.</li>
<li>Minimum three (3) years current clinical nursing experience</li>
<li>Teaching and/or supervisory experience preferred</li>
<li>Instructor must have sincere interest in teaching and nursing, enjoy working with people, and have the ability to deal tactfully with people</li>
<li>Instructor must have a high standard of personal and professional ethics and possess an understanding and appreciation of the role and scope of the school and program purpose&nbsp;</li>

GENERAL DUTIES:&nbsp;
The adjunct practical nursing instructor, under the direction of the Coordinator of Nursing along with the PN faculty, shall be responsible for assisting in planning, developing, initiating and teaching the approved instructional program for practical nursing students in both the classroom and clinical setting.&nbsp; In addition, the adjunct practical nursing instructor shall maintain appropriate program and student records for documentation and evaluation; provide individual evaluation of each student’s progress with counseling and appropriate recommendations when required; supervise students’ clinical experiences as scheduled; and maintain good public relations with clinical partners.&nbsp; &nbsp;The adjunct instructor will also assist with student placement and student follow-up; participate in recruitment of students; cooperate with outside agencies; work with program advisory committees; conduct visits to business and industry; and establish and maintain good public relations within the college’s service area.&nbsp; Some travel is required.
SALARY:&nbsp; $31.50 per hour/Commensurate with Tennessee College of Applied Technology salary guidelines.
