ResponsibilitiesThis position is the first level of authority in the workplace by providing leadership, coaching, and clear direction to ensure that the hourly workforce is working safely, meeting customer demands, solving problems, eliminating waste, and meeting goals. Direct reports include the incumbent’s respective area’s and shift’s hourly reports. The incumbent communicates continually with the Die Engineering, Die Design, Planning, and Quality Departments, as well as with Production Supervisors. Externally, they communicate with vendors and other tool and die shops.&nbsp;<ul> <li>Authorizes and subsequently reviews all repairs to tooling. Organizes and assigns departmental workload so as to maximize efficiency and timeliness.&nbsp;</li> <li>Maintain Die Repair Orders (DROs) in Oracle to track tooling repairs and enter MSO for tooling routed to outside repair shops</li> <li>Instructs, guides, supervises, motivates and evaluates die shop staff regarding the daily performance of their assigned duties in a manner consistent with applicable Company policies and procedures.</li> <li>Reviews work orders and time spent on jobs on a daily and weekly basis to ensure accuracy, quality and efficiency of shop performance.</li> <li>Coordinate with outside shops working on Howmet tooling, assign and track due dates, communicate scope of work and provide purchase orders to cover work costs. &nbsp;</li> <li>Oversees purchasing of routine and special-order die shop supplies, mechanical parts, cutting tools to ensure appropriate and timely availability of components for maintenance as needed. Die Shop Supervisor

ResponsibilitiesUnder the direction of the Maintenance Area Lead, this position is responsible for training, coaching, and motivating hourly crafts personnel to provide reliable equipment consistent with customer quality and delivery requirements. Direct reports include a group of hourly personnel assigned to their area and shift. The incumbent communicates continually with the Engineering and EHS Departments, as well as with Control Technicians and Maintenance Leads. Industrial Maintenance Supervisor - 2nd and 3rd Shift

Howmet Aerospace Structures Systems, a forging facility located at 1600 Harvard Ave., is seeking an Operations Supervisor to join its Operations Department. Under the direction of an Area Manager, this position is the first level of authority in the workplace by providing leadership, coaching, and clear direction to ensure that the hourly workforce is working safely, meeting customer demands, solving problems, eliminating waste, and meeting goals. Direct reports include the incumbent’s respective area’s and shift’s hourly reports. The incumbent communicates with all levels of personnel and management in the Operations and EHS Departments, as well as with the respective plant’s production scheduler and planner. Externally, they communicate with vendors. Accountability Objectives Responsibilities include but are not limited to: <ul><li>Ensuring that all EHS policies are followed.</li><li>Monitoring performance and implementing corrective actions to meet goals.</li><li>Identifying and implementing improvement plans.</li><li>Solving problems to their root causes to prevent recurrence.</li><li>Communicating with others effectively within and outside the work group.</li><li>Maintaining all production and related quality assurance records.</li><li>Providing leadership, direction, and motivation to people in assigned area.</li><li>Managing employee and labor relations effectively including contract administration, grievance handling and day-to-day employee complaints/issues.</li><li>Meeting or exceeding production goals, which includes monitoring output, safety, on time delivery, and people initiatives within a traditional unit supervisor role.</li><li>Directing the implementation of Howmet Aerospace Business System initiatives (lean manufacturing) including 5S, standardized work, work balance, product flow, and TPM improvements.</li><li>Owning cost savings initiatives (degree implementation).</li><li>Overseeing the clocking in and out procedures for all hourly crafts persons under their supervision to ensure that the HR Department receives the right information to pay employees correctly and on-time.</li><li>Creating and submitting product orders for operational expense items based on departmental need to ensure the continual operation of the department with minimal operational interference.</li><li>Performing other duties as assigned</li></ul> For this position to be successful, the incumbent should have: <ul><li>A High School Diploma or GED, from an accredited institution.</li><li>Minimum 3 year of supervisory experience in a heavy manufacturing environment.</li></ul> Preferred Qualifications For this position to be successful, preference is given to candidates with: <ul><li>Bachelor’s degree, from an accredited institution, in Electrical, Mechanical, Engineering, or Business.&nbsp;</li><li>The ability to effectively communicate (verbally and written) and delegate while maintaining forward motion on key deliverables.</li><li>A high degree of interpersonal skills to motivate and influence others, including those not under their direct supervision.</li><li>Demonstrated ability of problem solving, systems thinking, project management, and team building.</li><li>Knowledge and experience in applying lean manufacturing to operations work.</li></ul> Working Conditions This position involves varying degrees of exposure to risk of accident and requires following basic safety precautions. Work is normally performed in a shared work environment, divided between the shop floor and an atypical interior workspace. While not regularly exposed to hazardous materials, the potential to encounter such hazards requires wearing chemical resistant protective wear as necessary. This position does, however, require wearing full PPE always to protect from mobile equipment and hot materials when on the shop floor. This position requires heavy physical activity, such as walking, sitting, and standing for long periods of time.
