ResponsibilitiesHowmet Aerospace Niles&nbsp;Operations is seeking a Shift&nbsp;Supervisor to join its operations Department. Under the direction of the Focus Factory Manager, this position is the first level of authority in the workplace providing leadership, coaching, and clear direction to front line employees. This role is responsible for ensuring that the hourly workforce operates safely and efficiently, while actively driving problem-solving efforts, promoting waste reduction, and supporting the achievement of operational goals.&nbsp;Accountability ObjectivesResponsibilities include but are not limited to:<ul> <li>Ensuring that all EHS policies are followed.</li> <li>Monitoring performance and implementing corrective actions to meet goals.</li> <li>Identifying and implementing improvement plans.</li> <li>Solving problems to their root causes to prevent recurrence.</li> <li>Communicating with others effectively within and outside the work group.</li> <li>Maintaining all production and related quality assurance records.</li> <li>Providing leadership, direction, and motivation to people in assigned area.</li> <li>Managing employee and labor relations effectively including contract administration, grievance handling and day-to-day employee complaints/issues.</li> <li>Meeting or exceeding production goals, which includes monitoring output, safety, on time delivery, and people initiatives within a traditional unit supervisor role.</li> <li>Directing the implementation of Howmet Aerospace Business System initiatives (lean manufacturing) including 5S, standardized work, work balance, product flow, and TPM improvements.</li> <li>Owning cost savings initiatives (degree implementation).</li> <li>Overseeing the clocking in and out procedures for all hourly crafts persons under their supervision to ensure that the HR Department receives the right information to pay employees correctly and on-time.</li> <li>Creating and submitting product orders for operational expense items based on departmental need to ensure the continual operation of the department with minimal operational interference.</li> <li>Performing other duties as assigned.</li></ul>Working ConditionsThis position involves varying degrees of exposure to risk of accident and requires following basic safety precautions. Work is normally performed in a shared work environment, divided between the shop floor and an atypical interior work space. While not regularly exposed to hazardous materials, the potential to encounter such hazards requires wearing chemical resistant protective wear as necessary. This position does, however, require wearing full PPE always to protect from mobile equipment and hot materials when on the shop floor.This position requires heavy physical activity, such as walking, sitting, and standing for long periods of time.This position also requires a willingness to maintain a flexible work schedule, which includes working midnights and weekend, as scheduled.QualificationsBasic Qualifications:For this position to be successful, the incumbent should have:<ul> <li>A High School Diploma or GED, from an accredited institution.</li> <li>Minimum 1 year of supervisory experience in a heavy manufacturing environment.</li> <li>Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.&nbsp;</li></ul>Preferred QualificationsFor this position to be successful, preference is given to candidates with:<ul> <li>Bachelor’s degree, from an accredited institution, in Electrical, Mechanical, Engineering, or Business.</li> <li>Minimum of 3 years experience&nbsp;in manufacturing or industrial environment.</li> <li>The ability to effectively communicate (verbally and written) and delegate while maintaining forward motion on key deliverables.</li> <li>A high degree of interpersonal skills to motivate and influence others, including those not under their direct supervision.</li> <li>Demonstrated ability of problem solving, systems thinking, project management, and team building.</li> <li>Knowledge and experience in applying lean manufacturing to operations work.</li></ul>About us﻿Howmet Aerospace Inc.
