POSITION SUMMARY
The Security Guard 1 position reports to the campus Chief of Police and provides general security functions that ensure a safe and healthy learning and working environment for all constituents of the College. The Security Guard monitors physical spaces, persons, and traffic to detect, prevent, report, and respond appropriately and to support the goals and objectives of the College’s strategic plan.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

<li>Lock or unlock buildings and rooms.</li>
<li>Lock doors and gates of entrances and exits to secure buildings.</li>
<li>Answer alarms and investigate disturbances.</li>
<li>Monitor and authorize entrance and departure of employees, visitors, and other persons to guard against theft and maintain the security of the premises.</li>
<li>Patrol industrial or commercial premises to prevent and detect signs of intrusion and ensure the security of doors, windows, and gates.</li>
<li>Call police or fire departments in cases of emergency, such as fire or the presence of unauthorized persons.</li>
<li>Operate detecting devices to screen individuals and prevent the passage of prohibited articles into restricted areas.</li>

Enforce the state, local and federal laws; enforce college policies and procedures; and provide a variety of security and enforcement services that promotes and maintains a safe campus. 
Job Duties:
The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned. Promote lawful behavior and protect the welfare of students, faculty, staff and visitors as a uniformed presence on campus. Perform foot and vehicle patrols to monitor behavior, secure buildings and property, maintain order during events and enforce policies, laws and ordinances. Seeks solution to possible problem before event occurs. Responds to radio dispatches and answers calls and complaints. Respond to emergency calls and alarms and assists in determining the cause or origin of an emergency. Assist and/or direct securing an area and containing any emergency situation. Investigate criminal offenses, traffic accidents, injury reports, and various other reported situations and effectively document preliminary investigation reports. Make arrests and assist in the prosecution of violators of the law. Enforce traffic and parking regulations. Respond to routine calls for assistance including safety escorts, transport of money on and off the campus, and motorist assistance. Assist students, faculty, and other campus visitors with questions, directions, issuing temporary parking permits, opening and closing buildings and classrooms, and various other activities. Performs CPR, First Aid, and use AED equipment as needed. Reports unsafe conditions. Develop partnerships with the campus community and serve as a proactive resource to a uniquely diverse population. Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED equivalent. Must be at least 21 years of age. Graduate of an accredited, approved police academy and be a certified police officer meeting all the requirements for P.O.S.T certification in Tennessee. Meet the requirements of TCA 38-8-106 and TCA 38-8-107 Qualifications of Police Officers. Out of state applicants are required to meet Tennessee P.O.S.T certification requirements within six (6) months of hire. Prior law enforcement experience as full-time certified officer must be within the past three (3) years. Must attend and successfully complete, annually, a department authorized and P.O.S.T approved in-service training course consisting of forty (40) hours of instruction. Must have not been convicted of or pleaded guilty to or entered a plea of nolo contendere to any felony charge or to any violation of any federal or state laws or city ordinances relating to force, violence, theft, dishonesty, gambling, liquor or controlled substances. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/ JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Protects life and property of the general public within the jurisdiction of the Nashville State Community College Police Department. Responds and takes the lead in atypical situations and emergencies, until relieved by higher authority. Assists with training activities and in-service presentations for other Police Officers, Security Officers and the campus population. Observes and reports suspected crimes, accidents or activities of a questionable/suspicious nature. Discourages unlawful activities. Works with the Chief of Police to plan, organize and implement security for campus functions, special events, crisis management and disaster planning.
Reports incidents involving persons or property, reporting likely cause of accidents, pursuing appropriate course of action and informing proper authorities as required. Cooperates with other law enforcement officials and jurisdictions and testifies in court or legal proceedings as required. Operates and maintains safety and security department equipment. Keeps records and makes reports. Makes recommendations to the Chief of Police on the development and implementation of comprehensive security programs, policies and procedures. Serves as liaison with contract security company and officers. Provide guidance in coordination with Chief of Police for the contract security officers. Position Summary: To provide quality on-ground instruction (possibly online) for student learning and to maintain a positive learning environment in the classroom. The major emphasis will be placed on teaching and evaluating students in the classroom and laboratories.

Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Planning and teaching classes as assigned and as outlined in the course descriptions and course syllabi. 2. Supervising the study and learning activities of students assigned. 3. Submitting requests through the department head, program coordinator, or lead teacher for equipment, supplies, textbooks, and other instructional aids. 4. Evaluating the academic progress of students. 5. Demonstrating knowledge of services, regulations, and procedures as defined in the Adjunct Faculty Handbook. 6. Submitting course grades and performing other administrative duties as required. 7. Scheduling two office hours. For extenuating circumstances in which office hours cannot be scheduled, the adjunct faculty member must submit a written plan to the Dean describing how students can access the instructor. Office hours are not paid during the summer session.
Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree or higher from a regionally accredited college/university with at least 5 years of full-time practical cyber or cyber related working experience and must possess at least one current industry recognized cyber credential.

Work with course leads and/or program coordinators to ensure consistent and equitable student experiences. Utilize the College’s learning management system to provide course materials to students. Submit updated department syllabus prior to the first day of class. Regularly check College email account and department mailbox. Respond to emails/messages within 48 hours, except on weekends. Complete all required reports, such as attendance, Early Alerts, student progress reports, grade submissions, and administer and return surveys and student outcome assessments by the deadlines. Submit final grades for each semester by the deadline established by the Registrar. Comply with all College and TBR policies and guidelines.

May be confined to motor vehicle for an entire shift. May be exposed to hazardous materials, infectious disease, bloodborne pathogens, steam, car battery acid, loud noises smoke and fire. Preferred Qualifications:
Unarmed security guard licensure through the Tennessee Department of Insurance and Commerce.

POSITION SUMMARY Provides general security services to the campus and assists campus police officers with routine patrols and other security measures.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Patrols campus by foot, bicycle or motor vehicle. Identifies and reports suspected crimes, accidents or activities of a questionable/suspicious nature. Reports accidents involving persons or property, reporting probable cause of accidents, pursuing appropriate course of action and informing proper authorities as required. Provides security for special events. Writes citations for parking violations.
Provides direction and/or instruction to faculty, staff and students in unusual or emergency situations. Participates in campus training for emergencies and for law enforcement officers. Monitors classrooms, offices and buildings for safety and/or maintenance concerns. Maintains and utilizes security equipment. Maintains department records and prepares reports. May testify in court or during legal proceedings as needed.
