The Center has a “full-cycle” grant management structure. In addition to pre and post award management of sponsored awards, the ADRAF will review and approve expenditures (HCOM, Corporate Card, PCard etc.). The ADRAF ensures compliance with internal Harvard polices, processes and deadlines. This includes working closely with OSP, RAS, OGC and Central finance departments. The ADRAF will assist in hiring and orientation, training and development, workflow and performance management, and the promotion of an inclusive and innovative work environment. The ADRAF will oversee the routing and signatory process. The ADRA will establish and monitor effective pre-and post-award processes and systems. Manage pre-award areas such as: proposal submission, award validation approval and set-up. Manage post-award areas such as: award approval and set-up, financial analysis, and reporting.&nbsp; The ADRAF will also work with OI leadership on financial projections and modeling to account for Center sustainability, growth, and diversified funding streams.&nbsp;

Using biochemical, genetic, and physiological studies, we aim to find novel pathways and preventive, therapeutic solutions to today’s greatest threats to global human health. The lab has made important contributions to the fields of “metabolism” and especially “immunometabolism", studying the interactions between metabolic and immune responses as critical drivers of numerous chronic diseases. In the last decade, we have approached immunometabolism in two major paths: organelle homeostasis and lipid metabolism. Using biochemical, genetic, and physiological studies, we aim to find novel pathways and preventive, therapeutic solutions to today’s greatest threats to global human health. Using evidence from public management and insights from behavioral science, we study, design, and test strategies that can solve urgent public sector challenges in three core areas:&nbsp;&nbsp;Strengthening the government workforce - how to recruit, retain and support diverse talent in the public sector that can effectively and equitably respond to the changing needs of residents.&nbsp;Improving resident-government interactions - how to reduce barriers to equitable access to government services, mitigate the burdens that residents face when they interact with their government, and increase trust and satisfaction through such interactions.&nbsp;Reimagining evidence-based policymaking - how to rethink the production and adoption of policy-relevant evidence in the public sector, including testing new approaches to designing interventions, encouraging evidence use, and scaling up best practice.&nbsp;&nbsp;The majority of our projects are co-designed with public sector partner agencies in order to ensure feasibility in the short-term and scalability in the long-term.&nbsp; Job Description The Senior Project Manager will manage the implementation of two large research projects for The People Lab. Each are described below and are estimated to be around 50% of the role.&nbsp;The National City Survey&nbsp;The People Lab will launch the first-ever national survey of city employees in 2026. This initiative will entail conducting an annual survey of city employees across the country, with the aim of empowering cities, researchers, and practitioners to better understand workforce challenges and address them in a timely and data-informed manner. The Senior Project Manager, working closely with a Data Scientist, will oversee the creation of a national panel data set of city employees as well as employee surveys in three cities to start, with the intention of scaling up to additional cities each year. They will coordinate across stakeholders; manage government partner relationships, timelines, and deliverables; coordinate all implementation logistics; support junior research staff in meeting their deliverables; and set up scalable operational infrastructure for conducting the survey annually.&nbsp;&nbsp;Policy Bot&nbsp;The Senior Project Manager will manage the development of an interactive AI bot that provides informed and accessible insights to policymakers aiming to develop and implement evidence-based policies. The work may entail (a) managing the process of gathering and categorizing evidence for different policy audiences, in collaboration with a research team; (b) project managing a series of behavioral experiments on how policymakers would use an AI bot; (c) managing and coordinating with multiple stakeholders for public-facing versions of an AI bot, including academics, developers, communications teams, and funders. Provide consultation and recommendations for the use of financial resources to faculty and staff.Job-Specific Responsibilities: As a departmental leader, the Assistant Director of Research Administration brings to the role extensive experience with the full lifecycle of grant administration and the ability to design, implement, and monitor effective workflow processes and procedures. This individual will be instrumental in shaping and improving research administration operations while supporting the department’s strategic research goals. The Assistant Director will also be responsible for strengthening internal competencies and building confidence among the grants management team. The Assistant Director of Research Administration provides high-level technical expertise and oversight of both pre- and post-award grants management in a fast-paced and dynamic research environment. We are seeking someone with strong leadership abilities and excellent interpersonal and communication skills. The Assistant Director will work closely with faculty in identifying and applying for funding opportunities, review all pre-award submissions before department signoff, and advise faculty and research staff on University, federal, and sponsor guidelines. The individual will generate financial analyses and reporting for faculty and department leadership, serve as a departmental signatory on sponsored research proposals, and lead the development and delivery of grants management training. This position directly supervises two business office staff members and plays a key role in cultivating a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performing team.Key Responsibilities:Leadership &amp; Oversight<ul><li>Oversee the full range of sponsored research administration, from proposal development and submission through award setup, management, and closeout.</li><li>Provide strategic guidance to faculty and staff on funding strategy, resource allocation, and financial planning related to research activities.</li><li>Act as department signatory for sponsored research proposals in compliance with institutional policies and sponsor regulations.</li></ul>Staff Management<ul><li>Supervise, train, and support two research administration staff members, ensuring alignment of responsibilities, performance expectations, and professional development opportunities.</li><li>Promote a culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability within the research administration team.</li></ul>Pre- and Post-Award Administration<ul><li>Manage all pre-award activities including funding opportunity searches, proposal preparation, budget development, submission, and routing.</li><li>Oversee post-award functions such as award activation, financial reporting, budget reconciliation, re-budgeting, effort tracking, and subrecipient monitoring.</li></ul>Compliance and Institutional Coordination<ul><li>Interpret and ensure compliance with University, sponsor, and federal policies and procedures.</li><li>Serve as the department’s primary liaison with central administrative offices such as OSP, SPA, and Finance for research-related matters.</li><li>Represent the department at School- and University-wide working groups or meetings related to research administration.</li></ul>Process Improvement &amp; Training<ul><li>Evaluate departmental research administration procedures and recommend enhancements to improve efficiency and accuracy.</li><li>Lead the creation and implementation of departmental best practices.</li><li>Coordinate onboarding and training for new staff and provide continuous guidance to existing team members.</li></ul> Qualifications Basic Qualifications: <ul><li>Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required.</li><li>Minimum of 5 years’ relevant work experience.</li><li>Advanced knowledge of sponsored research regulations.</li></ul>
