The nurse plays a critical role in promoting maternal and child health, reducing disparities in birth outcomes, and supporting overall community wellness. Services are provided primarily in the community setting, with frequent home visits to a caseload or pregnant and postpartum women and/or infants. This position also includes case management and outreach to high-risk perinatal women and infants. The primary work location and service area may be determined based on the employee’s residence to best support the needs of the community.As a Registered Nurse within the Perinatal Home Visiting Program at the Georgia Department of Public Health,&nbsp;you will join a dedicated group of public health professionals that help support the overall mission and vision of protecting lives of Georgian residents in a variety of ways. <dt><h4>Job Responsibilities</h4></dt><ul><li>Deliver case management and nursing care according to public health protocols.</li><li>Provide services focused on health promotion, illness prevention, and decreasing infant mortality.</li><li>Conduct home visits and community outreach services to high-risk perinatal women and infants, primarily through home visitation.&nbsp;</li><li>Perform physical assessments, take vital signs, fetal monitoring and perform basic lab screenings.</li><li>Provide breastfeeding education and counseling and refer clients to appropriate social and health services.</li><li>Maintain accurate records of patient care, services, and responses to treatment.</li><li>Collaborate with healthcare professionals and community partners.</li><li>Participate in emergency preparedness and response activities.</li></ul><dt><h4>Minimum Qualifications</h4></dt>Associate’s degree in nursing from an accredited college or university and completion of a PHN course within one year of hire AND current Georgia Registered Professional Nurse license AND CPR certification. Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation.Preferred Qualifications:Bilingual-Spanish. Completion of a bachelor's degree in nursing.
