This role does not require nights, weekends, or holidays. Position SummaryThe RN performs pre-surgical nursing assessments and provides education to the patient prior to admission at the Ambulatory Surgery Center.&nbsp; The RN assesses and evaluates the care needs of the patient, requests necessary pre-surgical clearances and diagnostics, and communicates the patient's plan of care to the ASC.Key Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe key duties and responsibilities of the RN include, but are not limited to:<ul><li>Work with all members of the health care team to provide optimal care to the patient throughout their surgical experience</li><li>Maintain a friendly, positive and caring attitude with all patients, physicians and staff</li><li>Assist in patient education during all phases of their experience at the Center</li><li>Assist in assuring that the proper supplies, instruments and equipment are available for the procedure</li><li>Assist in assuring that equipment is functioning properly</li><li>Monitor use of all supplies. Assist with inventory control by proper count of supplies/time used.</li><li>Document appropriately the care that is given to the patient</li><li>Continuing education to meet State requirements and keep current with health care changes.</li><li>Display professionalism at work and in the community as a representative of the Center</li><li>Take an active role on committees within the department</li><li>Identifies actual and potential risk to patients and others and takes action to minimize or eliminate risk and maximize safety</li><li>Performs charge nurse responsibilities as staffing demands and as requested</li></ul>Education/Experience<ul><li>Graduation from an accredited school of nursing </li><li>Current State licensure and CPR, ACLS and PALS accreditation </li><li>Two years of OR, Recovery Room, Intensive Care or Emergency Room experience is desired </li></ul>Knowledge, Skills and Abilities<ul><li>Problem solving skills</li><li>Skill in using a computer</li><li>Knowledge of applicable specialties</li><li>Outpatient clinical organizational ability</li><li>Ability to remove oneself personally from given situations, remaining objective</li><li>Ability to exhibit cooperation, flexibility, and provide assistance when interfacing with patients, physician and staff</li><li>Ability to multi-task</li><li>Skill in organizing and reporting information that is accurate and complete</li><li>Understanding of the need for and evidence of consistent respect for confidentiality/HIPAA </li><li>Ability to maintain composure in stressful situations</li><li>Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with all staff</li><li>Ability to prepare records in accordance with detailed instructions</li><li>Ability to communicate clearly</li><li>Consistency and timeliness in attendance</li></ul>Work Environment/Physical DemandsThe work environment/physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by a teammate to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.&nbsp; Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable differently abled persons to perform the essential functions.

We have one of the longest standing PACE Programs nationwide (Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly) and are part of an excellent organization that is one of the largest community health centers in the country.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:<ul><li>Responsible for the general oversight, assessment, planning, and construction of the nursing care delivered to the participant.</li><li>Assess a patient through obtaining history, performing appropriate tests, making or collecting observations from the participant and caregivers, and consulting with other members of the IDT.</li><li>Teaches patients and families health care regimens. Explains and provides information regarding disease and wellness, tests, results, medications, diet, exercise, and other aspects of the plan of care to patients.</li><li>Safely and effectively administers medications, tests and treatments as ordered. Manages the refills of all patient medications with appropriate authorization by the provider.</li><li>Provide and coordinate health teaching required by individuals, families and groups to maintain the optimal possible level of health.</li><li>Completes biannual and status change nursing assessments for an assigned panel of participants in accordance with Care Planning Policy and documents problems, goals &amp; interventions in the participant’s care plan.</li><li>Utilizes Assessment tools including but not limited to PACE Nurse Assessment and Medication Management to collect data.</li></ul>Qualifications and Requirements:<ul><li>Baccalaureate degree in nursing preferred. Current Massachusetts license in nursing.</li><li>Current BLS certification required.</li><li>Minimum of 2 years experience in ambulatory, home health, hospital or sub-acute setting preferred, equivalent training or related experience considered.</li><li>A minimum of one year experience working with a frail or elderly population.</li><li>Prior experience in interdisciplinary team setting a plus.</li></ul>
