This role maintains and provides tools and equipment, performs diagnostic services and minor repairs, and performs other functions to support the aviation laboratory.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONSLaboratory Technical Support<ul><li>Distributes tools and equipment to students for classroom and laboratory use, documents disbursements, and collects and stores tools following use. Cleans tools, equipment, and floor. Cleans and maintains the lab area. Opens and closes the Lab at shift end and ensures equipment is stored in the proper location to secure the&nbsp;Aviation Lab.</li><li>Ensures tools, equipment, and training aids are functional, operational, and performs needed diagnostic service and minor repairs. Replaces tools and equipment when necessary. Prepares new training aids and donated vehicles for laboratory use.</li><li>Performs vehicle preventive maintenance. Charges batteries, maintains fuel levels, monitors tire pressure, and performs other maintenance of a routine nature. Schedules aircraft work for laboratory projects. Orders aircraft service and repair, labor time and estimation manuals, and updates automotive computer programs.</li></ul>Inventory &amp; Clerical Support<ul><li>Maintains and updates inventory of tools, special service kits, equipment, stock items, and vehicles. Monitors disbursements, orders needed items, and obtains bid offers on new equipment.</li><li>Utilizes college-approved contractors to ensure proper handling and disposal of waste oil and other hazardous materials. Keeps accurate records. Completes and maintains required documentation, including inventory reports, work orders, and requisitions.</li></ul>Program Support<ul><li>Assists instructors. Obtains and returns training materials, sets up vehicles and other training aids, and arranges chairs, tables, and equipment. Effectively troubleshoot all mechanical equipment to identify issues within the plant and take necessary corrective actions to repair, replace or rebuild. Reads, interprets and follows blueprints and sketches, making all measurements and calculations necessary to complete the job. Makes out work orders, requisitions, inspection reports, time distribution, material usage, etc., and performs other clerical duties necessary to maintain proper records relative to the work performed. Directs, assists, and instructs other maintenance employees on jobs where it is necessary to work together or when requested by Supervisor. Does gas cutting as directed.&nbsp; Inspects/maintains plant buildings and maybe required to cast concrete forms and bollards as needed. Operates, maintains, inspects, lubricates and repairs all plant systems as required. Housekeeping responsibilities.
