This position plays a vital role in ensuring quality and timely deliveries of our fiber services to customers. This candidate will perform prep and fusion of single-mode or multi-mode fiber optic cables for both inside and outside plant construction. They will be performing fiber panel audits and splice case audits, as well as properly placing mid-sheath splices.Duties and Responsibilities <ul><li>Perform prep and fusion of single-mode or multi-mode fiber optic cables for both inside and outside plant construction.</li><li>Perform fiber panel audits and splice case audits.</li><li>Properly place mid-sheath splices.</li><li>Test and troubleshoot fiber using an OTDR, optical power meter, fiber identifier and scope.</li><li>Perform installation and testing of fiber cross connects</li><li>Work with Construction Project Managers and Fiber Design to perform splicing as directed.</li><li>Provide Fiber Design team with detailed reports of field splicing activity.</li><li>Perform all work as necessary to conform to quality control guidelines (includes compliance with requirements outlined in applicable regulations such as: OSHA, FCC, NESC and NEC, etc.; as well as following procedures as outlined in the Installation, Technical, Operations, and Safety Manuals, and Employee Handbook).</li><li>Clean, maintain, stock and secure equipment.</li><li>Maintain a positive attitude and strong work ethic that can provide high productivity with minimal supervision.</li><li>Participate in engineering, permit and construction processes.</li><li>Construct proper splice cases pressurized and non-pressurized, using all types and sizes of cable, including, but not limited to: grounding, bonding, isolation, slack storage and sealing.&nbsp; </li><li>Make precise recommendations for changes in running fiber optic cables and provide input into construction methodologies.</li><li>Assist in scheduling splicing jobs with Construction Managers and/or Fiber Design.</li><li>Assist in training and support for Fiber Splicer I-II.</li><li>In coordination with Construction Manager, prepare required Wimps needed with the NOC for all maintenance splicing required.</li><li>Work with Fiber Design on required parts and equipment.</li><li>Work flexible hours as needed and on-call rotation which may include nights and weekends.</li><li>Other duties as assigned.</li><li>Must possess a valid driver's license and maintain a clean driving record.&nbsp;</li></ul>Requirements/Qualifications Education:<ul><li>High school diploma or equivalent</li></ul>Experience:<ul><li>5+ year of splicing experience with the ability to properly place a mid-sheath splice.</li></ul>Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: <ul><li>Proficient with construction equipment, hand tools, fusion splicer, OTDR, fiber identifiers and scope.</li><li>Strong written and verbal communication skills are required.</li><li>Ability to adhere to Local and Federal regulations and company policies.</li><li>Strong organizational skills are required with the ability to prioritize and organize effectively.</li><li>Basic computer skills and understanding of Outlook, Excel, Word and Google Suite (Docs, Drive and Mail) and Smartsheets.</li><li>Perform prep and fusion of Ribbon fiber and single mode.&nbsp;</li><li>Intermediate understanding of proper safety construction practices.</li><li>Ability to work flexible hours including nights and weekends, as well as on call rotation.</li><li>Ability to communicate and interact effectively with team members.&nbsp; </li><li>Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment without supervision.</li><li>Ability to drive company vehicles in a safe and responsible manner.</li><li>Valid driver’s license and auto insurance with a satisfactory driving record.</li><li>Ability to live within 30 miles, or maximum of 1-hour commute during regular commuting hours from the assigned territory.&nbsp;
