Title: Part-Time: Laboratory Technician (Natural Sciences)

This is a part-time temporary, fiscal year laboratory technician position under general supervision of the Department Head of Natural Sciences. The Laboratory Technician is responsible for operating, repairing, and maintaining complex electronic laboratory equipment and performing related work as required. He/she may work one day a week, away from his/her regular office at the Union Avenue Campus.
Job Duties
<ul>
<li>Facilitates/recommends the purchases of chemical, biological, scientific, or maintenance materials for laboratories at the Union campus, Whitehaven Center, and Maxine Smith Center.</li>
<li>Orders, stocks, and inventories chemicals and other supplies for Biotechnology, Biology, Microbiology, Chemistry, Anatomy and Physiology, and Physics labs.</li>
<li>Maintains paperwork on purchase requisitions, inventory, and allotted supply budgets.</li>
<li>Maintains an ordered chemical supply room with proper labeling for ease of use.</li>
<li>Maintains a separate supply room for glassware, plastics, tubing, personal safety materials, and equipment.</li>
<li>Follows preventive maintenance programs for laboratory equipment.</li>
<li>Makes independent decisions on laboratory stock, equipment maintenance, and personal safety.</li>
<li>Prepares materials for each lab as needed by faculty members; responsible for dissection materials, chemical solution preparation, and all associated laboratory equipment.</li>
<li>Operates laboratory equipment such as the autoclave, balances, pH meters, etc; checks for laboratory cleanliness and stores laboratory equipment when necessary.</li>
<li>Maintains safety signs for hazardous chemicals, their storage, and use; responsible for Hazardous material pick-up (biological material).</li>
<li>Accommodates student questions and helps student workers and other lab assistants.</li>
<li>Respectful and has a professional attitude with all his colleagues; appears in a professional manner, comes to work in a timely fashion, and responds to the needs of the faculty.</li>
<li>Maintains general first aid kits for classrooms; responsible for any paperwork required by the college, TBR, or state that involves hazardous chemicals or materials used at the Union campus.</li>

Job Summary
This is a part-time position at Southwest Tennessee Community College for a scheduled or on-call CDL “A” driver to drive the two College mobile learning labs. Events will be attended by student audiences (minors). The college has two vehicles and two hitch trailers (24-ft and 28-ft) associated with the mobile learning lab: • One F-350 truck with Super Duty Crew cab 60” cab towing 28-ft hitch trailer • One F-250 XL reg cab, 8ft bed towing 24-ft hitch trailer College will provide an advance driver schedule to the greatest extent possible --- normally providing at least one-week advance notice. Mobile Learning Lab transportation area is within the Greater Memphis metro region with no overnight travel. Specifically, between Southwest Tennessee Community College’s Macon Cove campus (5983 Macon Cove, Memphis, Tenn. 38134) and the designated Mobile Lab event site (student recruiting events). 
Job Duties
<ul>
<li>Driver is expected to remain with truck during the duration of Mobile Lab events.</li>
<li>Arrive on Macon Cove campus one hour prior to departure to conduct safety inspection of trucks and trailers.</li>
<li>Connect truck and trailer, if necessary, and verify safety</li>
<li>Drive to Mobility Lab event locations.</li>
<li>Disconnect trucks and trailers, and move truck to safe location.</li>
<li>At the conclusion of Mobility Lab events, the driver will safely reconnect trucks and trailers; Connect truck and trailer and verify safety.</li>
<li>% - Return trucks and trailers to Macon Cove campus.</li>
</ul>
Minimum Qualifications
<ul>
<li>A valid commercial drivers license.</li>
<li>Must be at least 21 years of age.</li>
<li>Ability to sufficiently speak the English language.</li>
<li>A minimum of 3 years recent experience driving the type of equipment that the driver will be assigned to operate.</li>
<li>No Department of Transportation defined accidents in the past three years in which the driver was convicted for a moving violation in connection with the crash</li>
<li>No moving violations in the past 3 years in any type of motor vehicle.</li>
</ul>

Job Summary
The student worker/intern will work under close supervision of the shift supervisors of the Police Services/Public Safety Department. They will patrol facilities or safeguard a post as instructed, serve as a general security presence and visible deterrent to crime; report suspicious activity and/or criminal acts which may be a threat to students, faculty/staff, and college property.
Job Duties
<ul>
<li>Assist with monitoring the campus for safety.</li>
<li>Provide escort needs upon request.</li>
<li>Report suspicious activities and/or persons.</li>
<li>Assist staff and students during emergencies.</li>
<li>Assist with emergency drills.</li>
<li>Become familiar with basic investigation techniques.</li>
<li>Investigate minor traffic crashes.</li>
<li>Issue citations for traffic and parking violations.</li>
<li>Complete assigned tasks within the time frame specified.</li>
<li>Adhere to agency policies and procedures.</li>
<li>Maintain confidentiality related to consumer issues.</li>
<li>Report promptly for all Field Experience assignments and duties.</li>
<li>Maintain professional behaviors and attitudes.</li>
<li>Patrols campus by foot.</li>
<li>Maintains close communication with Police Officers and Police Radio Dispatchers using two-way radios.</li>
<li>Performs clerical duties.</li>
<li>May perform other duties as assigned.</li>
</ul>
Minimum Qualifications
<ul>
<li>Maintain a minimum 20-hour per week work schedule.</li>
<li>Must be enrolled as a Southwest Tennessee Community College student.</li>
<li>Must be in pursuit of an Associate Degree at Southwest Tennessee Community College.</li>
<li>Must have completed at least twelve credit hours of college-level course work.</li>
<li>Must have and maintain a minimum 2.5 grade point average.</li>
<li>Must successfully pass a background check</li>
</ul>
