As a Preventative Restaurant Maintenance Technician, you keep our restaurants running safely and reliably by performing scheduled maintenance, identifying potential issues, and supporting timely repairs across HVAC, commercial refrigeration, kitchen systems, and building components. You ensure work orders are completed accurately, efficiently, and on time to support smooth restaurant operations.

Day-to-Day Ingredients — Responsibilities
As a Preventative Restaurant Maintenance Technician, you will:
- Support an average of 40-45 restaurants.
- Work an average of 42 hours per week, Monday through Friday.
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on HVAC, refrigeration, commercial kitchen equipment, beverage stations and facility systems to ensure safe and reliable operation.
- Complete routine maintenance tasks, service calls, and cosmetic repairs to maintain brand standards and support daily operations.
- Perform basic troubleshooting and inspections to identify potential issues early, escalating complex or major repairs to MSC Technicians as needed.
- Execute and manage assigned maintenance work orders accurately and on time using mobile technology and work order systems, in alignment with service level expectations.
- Respond to restaurant maintenance needs and service requests to help minimize equipment downtime and operational disruptions.
- Perform maintenance tasks across electrical, plumbing, and general facility systems within defined scope.
- Maintain parts inventory, tools, and a clean, organized work environment, including company vehicle.
- Communicate effectively with Restaurant and MSC Leadership and ensure all work is performed safely and in compliance with company standards.

- Base compensation $26/hr; paid weekly

What You Bring to the Table — Required Experience
As a Preventative Restaurant Maintenance Technician, you must have:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent (or equivalent work experience).
- Ability to work full-time hours and travel both locally and long distances (including air travel), to worksites, meeting sites, and other locations.
- Working knowledge of HVAC, refrigeration, electrical, and plumbing systems
- Ability to diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair commercial kitchen and facility equipment
- Strong problem-solving and time management skills
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, multi-location environment
- Effective communication and customer service skills
- Valid driver’s license and ability to meet Whataburger MVR standards.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and safely work on ladders and rooftops.

As a Preventative Restaurant Maintenance Technician, we prefer you to have:
- Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) 608 Universal Certification
Where & How You’ll Work
This role is field based, supporting restaurants across an assigned market or region. You’ll travel frequently to partner with Operations, provide onsite support, and maintain strong relationships with leaders and teams in the field. Success in this role requires full-time availability, flexibility to adjust to evolving operational priorities, and the ability to travel regularly including day trips, overnight travel, and extended market visits. While most travel will occur within your assigned market or region, some out-of-market support may be required based on business needs.
Candidates must reside within the region they support and be able to travel throughout that area as needed.
