ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT The Public Affairs division promotes the agency’s key role in equipping all candidates and voters to power a fairer and more open democracy in New York City. We engage New Yorkers, inform them about elections, and boost their civic participation in the democratic process. Within Public Affairs, the Partnerships and Outreach unit works to build partnerships across the city to disseminate voting information, deliver accessible voter education, and conduct direct to voter outreach. The intention of this team’s work is to create pathways for all New Yorkers to gain trustworthy and accessible information and education around voting and democracy. Only then can we authentically increase civic participation and mobilize our communities beyond just voting. JOB DESCRIPTION We are seeking two Engagement Coordinators to join the Neighborhoods Team, which is focused on building trusting relationships with community partners and delivering in-language voter education to voters that speak a language other than English (LOTE) in low voter turnout neighborhoods. The Neighborhoods Team works with community-based organizations, faith-based institutions, libraries, businesses, local groups, and other community partners to disseminate key election information and offer educational workshops covering topics such as Why Vote, How to Vote, Voting Rights, Voter Protections, and more. The Engagement Coordinators will play a critical role in enhancing our civic engagement education and services for community-based organizations in the NYC Votes priority neighborhoods of South Bronx, North &amp; Central Queens, or East New York. Each Coordinator will take leadership over the implementation of education and engagement strategy in one of these neighborhoods. The role will also support the Partnerships and Outreach team in building and maintaining strong internal systems to organize and track partnership development. The Engagement Coordinator will work closely with the Neighborhoods Team to identify and forge relationships with key stakeholders. They will be tasked with understanding, tracking, and meeting community needs through the provision of resources and materials, education delivery, event execution, among other engagement and education approaches. The Engagement Coordinators will also work closely with Public Affairs staff to assist in the overall development of resources and materials and coordination of services. RESPONSIBILITIES Relationship Management: - Develop and implement a tailored partnership plan for key partners serving immigrants and people that speak a language other than English (LOTE) based on partnership criteria, neighborhood demographics, language(s) spoken, etc. - Serve as the primary liaison between these partner organizations and the Campaign Finance Board (CFB) as it relates to delivering requested resources and materials, scheduling and delivering educational sessions, conducting follow up, providing election-related updates and questions, etc. - Participate in events hosted by partner organizations and promote civic engagement opportunities. - Manage Partner accounts, contacts, and metrics in internal databases. - Incorporate new learnings regarding partners and immigrant voters into the overall team and division strategy.
