Job Summary
Reporting directly to Director of Legislation and Advancement, this paid Intern will support the day-to-day operations of the Government &amp; Public Relations Department during its busiest time of the year – the annual session of the Tennessee General Assembly. Throughout the course of the internship, much time will be spent watching legislative committee meetings and floor sessions, tracking legislation, and assisting other TBR staff and dignitaries who may visit the Capitol from time to time (including the annual TBR “Day on the Hill”). Research and analysis of proposed legislation will be an important part of the Intern’s role and will be conducted on the Hill in Nashville, remotely, or at the TBR System Office. Other responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, producing external communications pieces, scheduling meetings, preparing meeting materials and documents, and constituent case work and investigation. Given the pace and rigor of the legislative session, it is important to note that some days will be longer than others. The term of the internship will end two weeks after the adjournment of the annual legislative session.
Job Duties
<ul>
<li>45% - Legislative bill tracking and research; supporting Government &amp; Public Relations staff - (Essential)</li>
<li>25% - Administrative support tasks, research, meeting prep, staff support at System Office - (Essential)</li>
<li>25% - Facilitating Capitol Hill visits, including TBR Day on the Hill, and assisting dignitaries/staff/visitors on behalf of the TBR - (Essential)</li>
<li>5% - Other duties as assigned by Government &amp; Public Relations Department staff and/or other External Affairs leaders/staff. - (Marginal)</li>

Minimum Qualifications
• Enrolled in, or a recent graduate of, a public or private college or university, including a Tennessee College of Applied Technology; • Interest in state government and/or higher education issues; • Flexibility to work odd and/or extended hours during the legislative session; and • Reliable form of transportation to/from TBR System Office, Capitol Complex, and (occasionally) other locations. 
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience as a community college or technical college student; • Office work experience; and • Major in law, political science, history, public administration, social work, economics, sociology, journalism, or related fields. 
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Ability to thoroughly, and sometimes quickly, research policy issues and present findings to team members and other staff; • Strong sense of detail in organizing activities, events, and one’s own work; • Understanding of and strong comfort level with administrative office tasks: handling phones, office technology, schedules, organization of information, etc.; • Professional appearance and ability to communicate clearly, professionally, and respectfully through verbal and written means; • Ability to understand and maintain confidential information; and • Basic understanding of state government and the legislative process.

With over 300 employees, the Lawrenceburg, IN facility (Proximo Distillers Indiana - PDI) bottles about 15 million cases a year for all of North America.WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING The EHS Manager provides both strategic and tactical leadership for all Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) activities at Proximo’s Lawrenceburg, IN plant. This role ensures the safety of employees and visitors, regulatory compliance, and environmental responsibility while fostering a culture where safety and accountability are part of every decision. As a key member of the leadership team, the EHS Manager will drive continuous improvement, oversee workers’ compensation and site security, and lead emergency preparedness efforts.Strategic Leadership<ul><li>Define and deliver the long-term EHS roadmap aligned with Proximo North America’s goals</li><li>Serve as a key voice on the plant leadership team, influencing strategy and policy setting</li><li>Drive the Zero Loss journey through loss analysis, corrective actions, and proactive safety practices</li></ul>Safety Culture &amp; Engagement<ul><li>Champion a proactive, psychologically safe work environment where employees take ownership of safety</li><li>Lead the EHS pillar of TPM, embedding safety into daily operations and culture</li><li>Develop and execute training programs that strengthen safety competencies across all teams</li></ul>Systems &amp; Compliance<ul><li>Oversee all OSHA, EPA, and regulatory requirements with full compliance and transparency</li><li>Lead and standardize safety and environmental systems across the site and share best practices companywide</li><li>Prepare and maintain required records, including OSHA logs, audits, and environmental reports</li></ul>Operational Excellence<ul><li>Manage emergency response programs, chemical handling, and CAPEX safety-related projects</li><li>Oversee workers’ compensation claims and the return-to-work program</li><li>Provide expert guidance during new equipment or technology planning to ensure safety safeguards</li><li>Lead internal and external audits, coordinating timely resolution of findings</li></ul>Collaboration &amp; Influence<ul><li>Act as liaison with regulatory agencies and external partners on EHS matters</li><li>Share best practices across departments and sites, driving alignment and continuous improvement</li><li>Represent the plant at safety conferences and industry forums to stay ahead of trends and standards</li></ul>IDEAL CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE<ul><li>Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field</li><li>10+ years of EHS leadership experience in manufacturing (chemical or spirits industry preferred)</li><li>OSHA Certified Safety Manager (or equivalent) certification required</li><li>Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and other U.S. regulatory requirements</li><li>Proven success implementing safety systems (LOTO, hazard communication, emergency response)</li><li>Strong knowledge of hazard identification, risk assessment methodologies, and incident investigation</li><li>Demonstrated leadership driving cultural change and continuous improvement</li><li>Proficiency with data analysis tools (Excel or similar)</li><li>Experience in a unionized environment preferred</li><li>Flexibility to support a 24/7 operation across all shifts</li></ul>KEY PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES<ul><li>High Integrity and accountability</li><li>Excellent communication, influence, and problem-solving skills</li><li>Strong situational awareness</li><li>Confidence with humility</li><li>Empathy and respect for employees at all levels</li><li>Resilience under pressure</li><li>Proactive and forward-thinking mindset</li></ul>THE PAYOFF Join a globally renowned leader in the spirits industry and the world’s largest tequila producer.
