Job Duties

POSITION SUMMARY Under the supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor, performs basic maintenance and repairs to electrical, plumbing and other building systems and provides general carpentry, painting and commercial building repair/maintenance services across all seven of the College’s campuses.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Responds to and completes work orders for various maintenance projects and requests in a timely manner. Performs basic plumbing maintenance, including repairing faucets, caulking fixtures, running clogged drain lines and rebuilding &amp; replacing plumbing fixtures. Performs electrical repairs, including replacing light fixtures, lightbulbs and electrical receptacles and switches.
Prepares, primes and paints interior and exterior building surfaces. Installs and repairs drywall, glass, handrails, window blinds, ceiling tile, carpet/floor tiles, baseboard molding, etc. Maintains and repairs doors, locks, closers. Repairs or replaces defective equipment. Conducts preventative repairs on an annual, monthly, weekly and daily basis as needed/assigned.
Travels to extended campuses as assigned to perform routine and preventative maintenance and to assess condition of buildings/systems. Maintains a parts, supplies and equipment inventory and advises supervisor when inventory needs to be replenished. Moves chairs, desks, file cabinets and other furniture and equipment. Assembles furniture as needed. Assists with indoor and outdoor College event set-up and break-down, including tables, chairs, podiums, risers, stages, drapes, banners, etc., along with other miscellaneous requests.

The position of Sergeant supports the mission of Chattanooga State Community College Police Department to foster and maintain a safe and secure environment for its students, faculty, staff, and visitors by overseeing department personnel and providing administrative support. The position of Sergeant is a first-line supervisor for supervising police officers and security officers and is also responsible for traditional tasks that may include scheduling, data analysis, issuing and maintaining the key inventory (if applicable), and assisting in training. The position also maintains the responsibility for the role of a police officer.

Holistic Student Support

Program Innovation

<li>Assists in managing the training function of the police department when needed, assists in conducting training for the department that meets or exceeds POST requirements, may be required to complete reports documenting in-service and specialized training to the POST Commission, and ensures officers comply with POST requirements.</li>
<li>Serves as the Field Training Coordinator (FTC) and in that capacity manages the Field Training Program (FTP) for newly hired officers and officers in need of remedial training.</li>
<li>Analyzes information and formulates reports of trends through review of incident reports and statistical data.</li>

QUALIFICATIONS
<ul>
<li>P.O.S.T. Certified.&nbsp; Out-of-state applicants are required to meet Tennessee P.O.S.T certification requirements within six (6) months of hire.</li>
<li>Eight years of law enforcement experience, with a minimum of two years having been in a responsible administrative and supervisory role.</li>
<li>Experience working in a campus safety and security environment, as well as knowledge of situations that are unique to college students, events, and functions.</li>
<li>Possess a valid Tennessee driver’s license. Out-of-state applicants must obtain a Tennessee driver’s license within thirty (30) days of hire.</li>
<li>Pass a thorough background investigation, including a favorable criminal background report and motor vehicle record. Must never have been convicted of a felony or crime of moral turpitude.</li>
<li>Pass a medical examination/drug screening and a psychological evaluation. This requirement may be waived if there has not been a break longer than six months of full-time employment as a police officer within the state of Tennessee and the employing agency shares all medical and psychological reports.</li>

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Serves as the first point of contact for the Nashville State Community College Foundation, responding to phone calls, emails, and walk-in inquiries with professionalism and warmth. Provides comprehensive administrative support to the Foundation team. Handles sensitive and confidential information with discretion and integrity. Maintains accurate donor and alumni records, including gift entry, report generation, and preparation of gift acknowledgment letters. Coordinates and processes payments for student support programs such as Beyond Financial Aid, Nashville GRAD, and Nashville Flex. Job Duties:
Deliver training and coaching in alignment with the TLC’s professional development goals. Assess training needs college-wide and schedule offerings. Provide one-on-one classroom technology support to faculty as an extension of the TLC’s mission. Create training resources that complement and feed into the TLC’s tracking system for professional development. Develop and deliver weekly training sessions (e.g., “Friday Tech Sessions”) in the TLC for faculty and staff. Provide individual coaching and on-demand support for classroom technology (projectors, hybrid learning tools, multimedia integration). Lead training on core platforms: Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint). Watermark (faculty credentials, Continuous Improvement Plans). SLATE (CRM for student engagement). AI applications for teaching, learning, and professional productivity. Create and distribute user-friendly training resources (guides, videos, quick tips). Serve as a resource to faculty working to integrate technology into courses that enhance teaching and learning experiences. Support staff in mastering technology that improves communication, efficiency, and collaboration. Stay current with technology trends and recommend innovative practices to the TLC. Conduct technology training needs assessments by collecting information on employee skillsets and developing and administering (groups and individuals) technical training programs based on need, both in-person and virtual. Provide learning management system and accessibility training, including assisting personnel in creating WAC 2.1 compliant resources. Collaborate with stakeholders to develop training content, learning objectives, training materials and schedules, agendas, and a mechanism for tracking training attendance. Develop a mechanism to determine training effectiveness and make improvements, as necessary. Responsible for staying current with the latest technologies and software applications. Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution. One year of related experience. 
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree from an accredited institution. Experience with faculty development or professional learning programs in higher education. Strong record of incorporating AI or emerging technologies into training or instructional practice. Experience providing technology training to adult learners. Experience with Banner, Slate, D2L or their equivalents.
