Job Description
The Operating Room Technician plays a vital role in our surgical team, providing direct patient care and support to the Registered Nurse. Your duties will include setting up sterile environments, assisting with surgical instruments, and ensuring a clean and organized operating room. You will work closely with the surgical team, maintaining a high level of confidentiality and professionalism. This role is perfect for someone with a passion for healthcare and a desire to make a difference in patient care.Responsibilities
- Assist the surgical team during operating procedures under the direction of the Registered Nurse.
- Provide direct patient care as a scrub/instrument person, passing sponges, instruments, and sutures.
- Maintain a sterile setup and ensure accurate sponge, needle, and instrument counts.
- Assist with patient positioning and movement as directed by the surgical RN.
- Clean and maintain the operating room, ensuring a safe and hygienic environment.
- Work collaboratively as part of the care team to meet patient needs and support departmental goals.
- Deliver prompt and professional care, maintaining patient confidentiality.
- Participate in performance improvement initiatives and contribute to a positive work environment.
- Promote professional growth and development through ongoing learning.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and maintain a high standard of patient care.
Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent, with the ability to read, speak, and write English.
- Successful completion of an accredited surgical technologist program and a certified surgical technologist credential.
- Experience in a similar role is preferred but not mandatory.
- Proficiency in Clinical Applications is desirable, with training provided for new hires.
- BLSHCP certification is required upon hire or transfer.
- Demonstrated competencies as outlined in the Assessment and Evaluation Tool.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic hospital environment.
- Excellent hand-eye coordination and finger dexterity, with good visual and hearing acuity.
- Physical ability to stand, reach, walk, and lift up to 60 lbs.
