A Research Instructor position in the Department of Pharmacology and Chemical Biology at the University of Pittsburgh is immediately available in the laboratory of Dr. Stacy Gelhaus. This is an Appointment Stream position. Research in the Gelhaus laboratory centers on the link between metabolism and asthma with focuses on obesity and microbiome. The position will investigate the changes in host and microbial metabolism that impact lung function in our murine models of asthma and asthma with obesity. In addition, the lab utilizes nitrated fatty acids as therapeutics in these models. We are currently studying their mechanisms of action related to immune cell signaling and metabolism. The long-term goal is to understand how nitrated fatty acids impact signaling to improve lung function, and to discover novel interorgan interactions between lung, liver and gut microbiome.

Candidates should have 4+ years of postdoctoral research experience and demonstrated expertise in immunology, microbiology, and pulmonary function, along with excellent written and oral communication skills. Salary is commensurate with experience.
