Founded in 1994, Surveying And Mapping, LLC (SAM) is a nationwide leader in geospatial and construction-phase solutions. With more than 50 offices and 1,600 professionals, we deliver the scale, technology, and expertise needed to support projects of any size. SAM streamlines project delivery through a single, coordinated team, offering in-house capabilities across land surveying, aerial mapping, subsurface utility engineering (SUE), utility coordination (UC), GIS, BIM, and construction engineering inspection (CEI).

By combining advanced technology, digital workflows, and decades of experience, we provide accurate, actionable data that helps clients move critical infrastructure projects forward with confidence. At SAM, you’ll be part of a team that values innovation, growth, and the opportunity to make a tangible impact on the built environment.

Responsibilities

We’re looking for an experienced, business-minded leader who is local to the area and thrives in both operational execution and client relationship building. This is a highly visible role, critical to driving both the day-to-day performance of the office and our continued reputation in the region. It's an excellent position to build a growth-filled career with one of the most respected firms in the industry.

  • Collaborate with regional leaders and project managers to execute a growth strategy tailored to the local power utility market (electric, gas, renewables).
  • Oversee all aspects of operations, including staffing, budgets, and resource planning.
  • Lead, grow, and mentor a high-performing team across the Survey service lines including field crews, technicians, and licensed professionals.
  • Act as a key point of contact for clients, both existing and prospective, ensuring exceptional service, communication, and long-term relationships.
  • Partner with business development staff and technical leads to pursue new market opportunities, respond to proposals, and help drive year-over-year revenue growth.
  • Monitor project performance, QA/QC, client satisfaction, and safety standards, ensuring that operational excellence remains a top priority.
  • Represent SAM at local industry events and client meetings.
  • Promote and maintain a culture that supports retention, employee development, and high engagement across all roles.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of professional experience in the land survey or geospatial industry, with a focus on project management and leadership specifically in the power utility market in Massachusetts.
  • Track record of winning and managing major projects related to infrastructure/power utilities.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills in managing teams, office operations, and cross-discipline project delivery
  • A strong business development mindset, with a proven ability to build relationships, understand market dynamics, and close work.
  • Experience overseeing financial performance, resource planning, and contract execution
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to lead through influence and collaboration
  • Professional Land Surveyor License required, preferably in MA
  • Must be local to the area due to the strategic and nuanced nature of the MA market
