The Tennessee College of Applied Technology - Dickson is accepting applications for the full-time position of Associate Instructor in the Evening Barbering Program at our Clarksville Campus. This is a grant-funded position.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical diploma from accredited Barbering program preferred.
  • Current, active Tennessee Barbering Instructor license.
  • Minimum of three years of full-time Barbering experience.
  • Teaching, training or management experience preferred.
  • Must possess a high degree of knowledge in all areas of the instructional field.
  • Must commit to remain licensed and maintain program accreditation(s).

SKILLS

  • Must possess the organization and communication skills necessary to be an effective teacher and interact with all students.
  • Must show evidence of good character, organizational skills, and mature attitude.
  • Must be willing to remain current in the Barbering profession.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees.
  • Computer skills required.

GENERAL DUTIES: The Evening Barbering Associate Instructor is responsible for providing individualized theory and hands-on instruction to prepare students for employment as Barbers. The Barbering Associate Instructor will develop, plan, and prepare a complete and progressive course of study including lesson plans, assignments, and instructional aides; monitor, grade and evaluate individual student progress; enter and maintain student records on a regular basis in the college’s student records management system; assist with recruitment, placement, and follow-up of students; and other duties as assigned. This position must also maintain good public relations with business and industry, maintain an active advisory committee and cooperate with outside agencies. This is not a remote position; all instruction is delivered in-person. Scheduled work hours are Monday through Friday from 1:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Class schedule is Monday through Friday from 2:45 p.m. to 9:15 p.m. This is a grant-funded position.

SALARY: $50,894-$61,074 per year ($26.10-$31.32 per hour). Commensurate with Tennessee Colleges of Applied Technology salary guidelines and directly related experience.
