Job Description
The Sterile Processing Technician plays a vital role in maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and sterilization in our healthcare facility. You will work independently to clean and assemble medical instruments, ensuring they are ready for use in various departments. This role requires attention to detail, a commitment to safety, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. Your contributions will directly impact the quality of patient care and the overall efficiency of our medical center.Responsibilities
- Clean, decontaminate, and assemble reusable medical instruments and equipment.
- Prepare and monitor sterilized instruments for use in the Operating Room.
- Assist in maintaining accurate inventories of supplies and stock levels.
- Perform periodic physical inventories as directed by the Lead Technician.
- Maintain a clean and safe workplace, adhering to strict sterilization protocols.
- Operate cleaning and sterilizing equipment according to established procedures.
- Pull supplies for the Operating Room case cart system, ensuring timely delivery.
- Collaborate with the Surgical Case Cart Room team to ensure a smooth workflow.
- Complete additional duties as assigned by the Lead Technician or Supervisor.
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and hospital policies.
Qualifications
- High school Diploma or GED; an associate degree in a related field is preferred.
- Certified Registered Central Sterilization Technician (CRCST) or (CBSPD) certification is required within 18 months of hire.
- Minimum one year of experience in Sterile Processing, Materials Management, or a healthcare-related field is preferred.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to read, write, and speak English fluently.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating strong collaboration skills.
- Physical ability to lift, push, and pull weights up to 90 lbs with assistance.
- Knowledge of infection control practices and an understanding of hospital safety protocols.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining a sterile environment.
- Willingness to work flexible shifts, including evenings and weekends, as needed.
- A positive attitude and a passion for delivering exceptional patient care.
