Wheaton College (MA) invites applications for a part-time affiliated instructor to teach one or both of the following courses in Psychology & Neuroscience during the Fall 2026 semester.
PSY 203 – Child DevelopmentMeeting days/time: Tuesdays and Thursdays, 11:00 AM – 12:20 PMCatalog description: An introduction to concepts and methods for a scientific and ecologically sensitive approach to development, with a primary focus on the multiple influences that create change and continuity, universals and cultural specificity. Development from conception to late childhood is emphasized. Includes observation at the Wheaton College Early Education Center.
PSY 101 – Introductory PsychologyMeeting days/time: Tuesdays and Thursdays, 11:00 AM – 12:20 PMCatalog description: A survey of the basic principles and findings of psychology as a social and biological science and practice.Please note: Catalog descriptions are intended to provide applicants with a general sense of the intellectual scope of each course. Instructors will have access to previous syllabi, but are also welcome and encouraged to make each course their own in ways that align with their existing knowledge, strengths, and prior experience, as well as departmental expectations.

When determining and establishing hiring rates or recruitment ranges for a position, the College considers a number of factors including the budget for the position, the range of the grade, the external market for the position or similar positions, level and scope of responsibilities, required education, skills and relevant experience as well as internal equity. All salary offers must have the prior approval of the Office of Human Resources.
The anticipated hiring or recruitment range for this position is $5,000 per course ($1,000 per month August – December).
The salary for this position will be commensurate with the qualifications, education and experience of the candidate.

- Teaching effectively in an in-person environment that fosters meaningful student-faculty interaction.
- Creating a course syllabus (with assistance, if desired) and ensuring it is provided to students and posted on the course’s Canvas site.
- Selecting and ordering textbooks and/or procuring other required course materials before classes begin.
- Grading assignments in a timely manner and posting grades in Canvas.
- Holding regular office hours and being responsive to student needs.
- Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled.
- Finalists will be contacted for an interview after their applications have been reviewed. and will be asked to provide names and contact information for references.
- Candidates may be asked to provide references following the interview.
