The Director of Business Development is responsible for developing new business opportunities, growing the association’s exhibits, advertising and sponsorship revenue, finding and developing new business opportunities and expanding the brand.&nbsp;Essential Job Duties:&nbsp;<ul><li>Grow the association’s non-dues, non-fundraising revenue generated through affinity programs, print and electronic advertising, exhibits, and sponsorship sales.&nbsp;</li><li>Direct and manage the business development team (2 direct reports) and support staff, including management of outside advertising sales and marketing contractors.&nbsp;</li><li>Collaborate with the Senior Director of Meeting and Sales to establish goals and overall direction of department.&nbsp;</li><li>With guidance from the Senior Director of Meetings and Sales and in collaboration with related association teams, develop and manage annual expense and revenue budgets.&nbsp;</li><li>Manage the association’s affinity programs, including new vendor prospecting, contract negotiation, and execution; retention and growth of current vendor relationships; and successful and effective promotion of products and services to members.&nbsp;</li><li>Lead the building of a robust prospect pipeline for all association-related marketing opportunities through strategic prospecting, research, networking, and attendance at trade shows, conferences, and other relevant industry events.&nbsp;</li><li>Work with Senior Director of Meetings and Sales, Business Development team members and other association departments to conceptualize, develop, and execute new and unique revenue-generating opportunities across all lines of business.&nbsp;</li><li>Initiate and supervise marketing activities, including coordination with AAJ’s Marketing team to develop multi-touch campaigns and marketing collateral.&nbsp;</li></ul>Requirements:&nbsp;<ul><li>Bachelor’s degree. Assistant Controller&nbsp;The American Association for Justice (AAJ®) works to preserve the constitutional right to trial by jury and to make sure people have a fair chance to seek justice when they are injured by the negligence or misconduct of others - even when it means taking on the most powerful corporations.&nbsp;AAJ is seeking an Assistant Controller&nbsp;for its Finance department. The Assistant Controller is responsible for maintaining internal controls and supports financial reporting for AAJ and related entities. In this role, the Assistant Controller must be able to apply knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and to provide accurate financial data for management review.&nbsp;Responsibilities:&nbsp;<ul><li>Setup and maintain all accounting and budgeting systems, including Sage Intacct and Dynamic Budgets or their successors.&nbsp;</li><li>Collaborate with the Controller and CFO to develop and maintain Intacct financial reports to aid decision making for the departments and executive team.&nbsp;</li><li>Provide training and guidance to departmental users of Intacct, Dynamic Budgets and other Finance applications.&nbsp;</li><li>Support role in the preparation of the annual budgets for AAJ and the Education Fund and provides support to other AAJ departments as needed.&nbsp;</li><li>Manage the month-end and year-end closing process for all entities, including recurring journal entries and NetForum revenue recognition.&nbsp;</li><li>Run monthly financial statement reports for review by Controller and CFO.&nbsp;</li><li>Review monthly financial statements and analyze actual results compared to budgets and projections.&nbsp;</li><li>Prepare and review certain monthly Balance Sheet Account Reconciliations including deferred revenue.&nbsp;</li><li>Lead and manage a team of two direct reports: the Senior Accountant and the Accounts Payable Accountant.&nbsp;</li><li>Oversee the daily operations of direct reports, excluding payroll reviews, ensuring the timely and accurate completion of accounting functions.&nbsp;</li><li>Assist the Controller in monitoring the Finance team’s workload to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources.&nbsp;</li><li>Work closely with Business Development &amp; Meetings departments to reconcile deferred revenue related to convention registrations, exhibits and sponsorships.&nbsp;</li><li>Collaborate with Controller to set up new vendors and manage vendor data changes in MineralTree/Intacct.&nbsp;</li><li>Support expense report general ledger journal entry preparation.&nbsp;</li><li>Prepare financial statements as needed for Foundation and AAJ PAC.&nbsp;</li><li>Support the annual financial statement audit by preparing reconciliations and schedules.&nbsp;</li><li>Administer annual charitable registrations and renewals with outside vendors.&nbsp;</li><li>Assist Controller and perform ad-hoc projects as needed.&nbsp;</li></ul>Qualifications:&nbsp;<ul><li>B.S. degree in Accounting and CPA preferred.&nbsp;</li><li>Minimum of 8+ years full-cycle accounting experience with associations or not-for-profits required.
