Title: Instructor, English – 9/10 Month (Term)
POSITION SUMMARY This position is a full-time faculty position responsible for preparing and delivering quality instruction in English. This position will support instruction in Nashville high schools and other Nashville State instructional sites as needed.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Teach courses via on-ground in local high schools and/or online, hybrid or in web-enhanced delivery modes, as assigned. Teaching assignments are possible at any campus or site at which Nashville State instruction takes place. Within a minimum workweek of 37.5 hours, teach a minimum of 15 hours and hold office hours. Work with Course Leads, Department Chair, and Dean to ensure consistent student experiences. Utilizing the College’s learning management system, provide accurate and updated course materials to students. Submit updated and accurate syllabi prior to the first day of class. Regularly check College email and departmental mailbox. Respond to emails/messages within 24 hours, except on weekends. Complete all required reports, such as attendance, Early Alerts, progress reports and grade submissions. Administer and return questionnaires and student outcome assessments by the required deadlines. Submit final grades for each semester by the deadline established by the registrar. Provide academic advising to students with an emphasis on retention and success. Remain current in the teaching area(s) through appropriate professional development activities. Actively participate on committees within the Department of English and Reading, the School of Arts and Humanities and college-wide committees and engage in departmental institutional effectiveness activities. Collaborate in building and maintaining relationships within and beyond the institution. Comply with all college and TBR policies and guidelines.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Master’s degree in English, English Composition, Writing or Literature; or
Master’s degree in another discipline and at least 18 graduate semester hours in English, English Composition, Writing or Literature; or
MFA in Creative Writing
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Documented experience teaching at the college level.
Documented experience teaching at the high school level.
Demonstrated understanding of the community college mission and needs of the student population.
Documented experience teaching Composition I and II, Learning Support (developmental) Writing and Learning Support (developmental) Reading.

TCAT Shelbyville is working to build a pool of substitute/part-time temporary instructors to support our various programs. The communities that we serve are rich with skilled industry and workforce experience. We want to tap into that pool of talent! AVAILABILITY/CLOSING DATE: This pool application posting does not guarantee an open position. Applications for substitute/part-time temporary instructors are accepted on a continuous basis and reviewed by the department as needs arise and as openings become available. Teaching locations and work schedules vary. The length of a teaching assignment may range from one day to one year per assignment.
HOURLY PAY:&nbsp;$20 - $35 dollars per hour, based on experience, education, position assignment, and institutional guidelines.
TEACHING LOCATIONS: The Practical Nursing program and related pre-requisite courses (A&amp;P, Math for Meds) are offered at two TCAT Shelbyville teaching locations in Shelbyville and Winchester, Tennessee. Teaching location and work hours will vary based on the coverage needed.
DIRECT SUPERVISON FROM: VP of Academics and Compliance
SUMMARY
The instructor will be responsible for the effective performance of assigned responsibilities and duties. Lesson plans, assignments, and instructions will be provided and used as a guideline to lead student activities. The instructor will oversee student conduct, safety, discipline, and appearance, addressing issues as they arise with the VP of Academics and Compliance.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS for Clinical Nursing Applicants
<ul>
<li>Bachelor’s degree in nursing</li>
<li>3+ years Clinical Experience in Maternal, Pediatric, Mental Health, and/or Adult Health Nursing</li>
<li>Ability to effectively utilize email and basic computer software. (Microsoft Office)</li>
<li>Strong customer service skills, effective oral and written communication, and excellent organizational and planning skills</li>
</ul>
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS for A&amp;P or Dosage Calculation Applicants
<ul>
<li>Associate’s degree in nursing or an Associate of Science Degree</li>
<li>3+ years approved work experience in the nursing field</li>
<li>Ability to effectively utilize email and basic computer software. (Microsoft Office)</li>
<li>Strong customer service skills, effective oral and written communication, and excellent organizational and planning skills.</li>
</ul>
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS ABILITIES
<ul>
<li>Knowledge of the principles and practices of the occupation to be taught and the ability to use the tools and equipment used in the industry.</li>
<li>Physical ability to lift (up to) 30 lbs. and to move throughout the teaching area to demonstrate and perform all occupational duties, with or without accommodation.</li>
<li>Ability to deal tactfully with students, faculty, staff, industry partners, and the public.</li>
<li>Ability to express ideas clearly, concisely, and convincingly, and to plan and direct the work of others.</li>

RESPONSIBILITIES
<ul>
<li>Maintain an organized, safe, and stable learning environment.</li>
<li>Follow lesson plans, implement active learning activities, and teach occupational skills and competencies.</li>
<li>Utilize in-class assessment tools/techniques to measure student progress.</li>
<li>Record and submit grades and attendance (tardiness and absences) daily, per provided instructions.</li>
<li>Demonstrate professional worker characteristics and interpersonal skills.</li>
<li>Coordinate all disciplinary issues with the VP of Academics and Compliance.</li>
<li>Be responsible for and maintain inventory control of equipment, tools, and supplies assigned to the classroom and lab. Report loss or damage immediately.</li>
</ul>
SPECIFIC DUTIES
<ul>
<li>Adhere to the school calendar and daily class schedule.</li>
<li>Start and end class at designated time.</li>
<li>Check and respond to emails twice daily (minimum).</li>
<li>Other duties as defined by administration.</li>
</ul>

Title: TRiO Tutor (Pool)

Salary: $13 - $17 hourly rate dependent on education and experience, up to 27 hours per week
Job Summary
Reporting to the Tutor Coordinator, tutors are responsible for tutoring project participants and for attending tutor meetings, program workshops, seminars, and training sessions.
Math &amp; Science Tutors are urgently needed to tutor at Northeast State at Kingsport!
Job Duties
<ul>
<li>Provide tutorial assistance as assigned.</li>
<li>Assist participants in the development of study skills necessary for successful completion of courses so that students are retained, graduated and/or transferred.</li>
<li>Maintain accurate and current documentation concerning participant contact and progress.</li>
<li>Maintain contact with SS staff as required.</li>
<li>Refer participants to Student Support Services staff for information or assistance with issues such as academic, transfer and career advisement, and problem-solving.</li>
<li>Maintain a professional attitude and demeanor at all times.</li>
<li>Tutor in designated areas for designated time periods.</li>
<li>Keep all information confidential.</li>
<li>Initiate contact with appropriate faculty members at least once per semester.</li>
<li>Participate in training as required (in the form of sessions, individual study, etc.).</li>
<li>Complete other assignments as directed by supervision.</li>

Minimum Qualifications
Peer Tutors:
<ul>
<li>Completion of at least one semester of college or dual-enrolled at Northeast State or other institution.</li>
<li>A minimum GPA of 3.0.</li>
<li>A grade of “A” or “B” in each course to be tutored.</li>
<li>Recommendations from at least two instructors.</li>
</ul>
Advanced Tutors:
<ul>
<li>Completion of Associate degree or higher at an accredited institution with a final GPA of at least 3.0 and grade of “A” or “B” in subjects to be tutored if applicable; OR acceptance as adjunct faculty at Northeast State or prior tutoring experience for Student Support Services with all documentation on file. 
</li>
</ul>
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
<ul>
<li>Technology Skills: MS Office suite; videoconferencing software; digital records management systems; general operating systems and data information systems</li>
<li>Effective verbal and written communication skills</li>
<li>Ability to establish positive working relationships with participants</li>
