The EMS site includes a new (2025) tower to carry on the flux measurement record at this site that began in 1991, and the Hemlock site was established in 2004 and updated in 2014. We welcome additional research foci that augment and enhance existing programs at the Harvard Forest and leverage established archival, land, and research infrastructure developed over more than a century of study. The researcher will join a collaborative group of senior scientists who design, fund, conduct, and publish research relating to forested landscapes of New England; advance engagement with relevant policy- and decision-makers; and collaborate with a wide network of external researchers. Senior researchers’ salaries are department-funded, and scientists are expected to develop an externally funded research program.&nbsp; Senior Scientists mentor undergraduates—from Harvard and elsewhere—in Harvard Forest summer/winter internships and co-curricular programs. Manages reimbursement processing, including collecting receipts and knowing/applying relevant policies and guidanceAdditional responsibilities include:<ul><li>Serves as administrative contact for University constituents and external contacts.&nbsp;</li><li>Maintains departmental contact lists and organizational documents.</li><li>Makes edits to the department website, assists with the management of the department SharePoint site, and updates other department web-based systems, as needed.</li><li>Assists with the coordination of Harvard University IT support for department.</li><li>Assists with the reporting of equipment and building maintenance issues.</li><li>Assists with new hire onboarding, including new employee setup and office orientation.</li><li>Assists with digital and physical management of department files.</li><li>Works with staff to support organization-wide functions and activities. Provides cross-organizational support and backup as needed.</li><li>Participate in departmental staff meetings, documenting decisions and monitoring follow-up.</li><li>Assists with the coordination of large meetings and events, including local conferences, training sessions, and interdepartmental events.
