<li>Investigate and make a full report on every accident on the day the accident occurs, using the “Preliminary Accident Report Form.”</li>
<li>Be responsible for equipment, tools, and supplies assigned to clinic and/or classroom.</li>
<li>Maintain an inventory of equipment, controls storage, repair, and usage of materials to minimize loss or abuse.</li>
<li>Keep and share with students continuously updated records of attendance and competencies acquired during their enrollment.</li>
<li>Evaluate each student’s progress at multiple intervals during each trimester and complete permanent records.</li>
<li>Assist, as directed by administration, in follow-up evaluations of graduates and their programs.</li>
<li>Attend and participate in various school functions such as graduation, open houses, and other functions as assigned by the Academic Coordinator.</li>
<li>Meet deadlines of yearly mandated training.</li>

SUMMARY
The Industrial Maintenance and Automation Instructor shall be directly responsible to the institution administration for effective performance of assigned responsibilities and duties. The instructor shall observe rules, policies, and regulations set forth by the Tennessee College of Applied Technology Shelbyville (TCAT), Tennessee Board of Regents (TBR), and the Council of Occupational Education (COE); and shall strive to promote and elevate the mission and philosophy of occupational education within the areas served. They shall keep abreast of industry standards and techniques by visiting industry partners, continuing education, and reviewing periodicals and industrial magazines commensurate to the course being taught.&nbsp; The instructor shall develop and maintain a complete progressive course of study, lesson plans, assignments, and instructional aides to meet educational requirements and industry standards. They shall also oversee student conduct, motivation, safety, discipline, and appearance, addressing issues as they arise. The instructor shall build and cultivate partnering relationships with schools, business, and industry partners to promote the ideals of occupational education and implement an effective placement program for students.&nbsp;
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
<ul>
<li>High school graduate or the equivalent as determined by the High School Equivalency Test (HiSET).</li>
<li>3+ years of approved work experience in the occupation to be taught.</li>
</ul>
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
<ul>
<li>Associate degree or diploma from an accredited technical training program in the related field.</li>
<li>3+ years technical teaching experience.</li>
<li>5+ years industry related experience.</li>
<li>Knowledge of Safety Data Sheet (SDS) labeling and policy.</li>
<li>OSHA 10 certification.</li>
<li>Classroom experience and administrative experience in delivery of workforce education and competency-based training preferred.</li>

RESPONSIBILITIES
<ul>
<li>Ensure the program aligns with all Tennessee College of Applied Technology Shelbyville (TCAT), Tennessee Board of Regents (TBR), and Council of Occupational Education (COE) policy requirements.</li>
<li>Maintain a current knowledge of industry trends and technological advances in the industry.</li>
<li>Maintain an organized, safe, and stable learning environment that is conducive to all (COE) accreditation requirements.</li>
<li>Evaluate and select textbooks and reference materials, prepare curriculum, develop lesson plans, implement active learning activities to accommodate different learning styles, and teach industry skills and competencies commensurate to the course.</li>
<li>Prepare and/or select and utilize reliable formative and summative in-class assessment tools/techniques to measure student achievement of course competencies.</li>
<li>Establish grading criteria and utilize Banner to record and submit grades and attendance (tardiness and absences) daily.</li>
<li>Distribute student syllabus at the beginning of the course to define course competencies, performance criteria, established approved grading procedures and standards, attendance and class policies/procedures, and other necessary information to students.</li>
<li>Teach worker ethics curriculum, interpersonal skills, post-secondary workforce skills, and soft skills within the standard industry framework.</li>
<li>Demonstrate a commitment to student success by providing guidance and advice to students regarding program areas, course progress, and academic and disciplinary issues.</li>
<li>Coordinate all disciplinary issues with administration and student services coordinator.</li>
<li>Coordinate with Technology Foundations Instructor to schedule student instruction times.</li>
<li>Promote program specific career technical student organizations to all students (SkillsUSA, Student Government Association (SGA), etc.)</li>
<li>Coordinate with the Recruitment Coordinator and the Dual Enrollment Coordinator to present program information and promote dual enrollment opportunities to high schools and community.</li>
<li>Meet and collaborate with industry partners on technological advances related to program and occupation.</li>
<li>Establish a high quality, active Occupational Advisory Committee (OAC) per COE guidance and perform no less than two (2) OAC meetings per academic year.</li>
<li>Provide work-based learning opportunities to all students.</li>
<li>Coordinate student career guidance options with Career Services Coordinator.</li>
<li>Conduct follow-up on employment of graduates and maintain follow-up records on former students.</li>
<li>Be responsible for and maintain inventory, control, and light repair of all equipment, tools, and supplies assigned to the department’s classroom and lab. Report loss or damage immediately.</li>
<li>Be responsible for and maintain program budget to coordinate the need for equipment, tools, and supplies; make recommendations for and submit Purchase Orders for items needed for the program.</li>
