Job Summary
The College of Agriculture, Food and Environment Center for Student Success at the University of Kentucky is accepting applications for an assistant academic advising director. This position is responsible for advising students in the College of Agriculture, Food and Environment; coordinating and participating in Big Blue Nation Orientations for freshman, transfer, and readmitted students; make responsible decisions regarding student reinstatement to the university, course recommendations towards degree requirements, academic probation counseling; promote internship, research, and study abroad opportunities; end-of-term reporting, management of applications associated with college petition processes; monitoring of academic progress of probationary students, and other at-risk student populations; supervision of advising staff; and consistently live out the commitment to the college’s tenants of excellence, competence, respect, flexibility, communication, and learning. This position will have instructional responsibilities associated with the college’s probationary student population. This position will be involved in daily communications with students, parents, staff, faculty, off-campus constituents, and visitors.
Student Success will, from the time of early college outreach to graduation and beyond, support students in living a life of meaning and purpose. From a student-centered framework, our practice will be grounded in peer-reviewed literature, national best practices, and data-informed decision making. Collaborating with the campus and community, Student Success will work through a holistic lens to support a community of learners in achieving success.
