Job Synopsis

The position is meant to assist the U.S. Accounting Manager and Senior Accountant with their tasks as they continue to concentrate on the rollout of the new finance software in both the U.S. and internationally. The position will perform a number of accounting duties with an emphasis on processing month and year end tasks. This position has flexibility for the total hours worked depending on the candidate’s preferences. The range is 20-40 hours a week.

Essential:
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or 3 years prior experience doing double entry accounting
  • Understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) as well as debits and credits
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel
  • Working knowledge of other Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, Teams, etc.)
Employment eligibility: Legally eligible to work in the U.S. MCC offers of employment are subject to a successful criminal background check(s).

Preferred:
  • Experience and knowledge of non-profit fund accounting
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central accounting software
  • Experience with Power BI

Key Responsibilities

Specific Tasks and Duties
  • Maintain the fixed asset ledger
  • Perform monthly bank reconciliations
  • Perform monthly investment account reconciliations
  • Organize and update information for the annual insurance renewal. Coordinate with regional staff about updates related to vehicle and property insurance changes.
  • Prepare monthly journal entries for insurance expenses
  • Prepare journal entries twice annually for insurance expense allocations to departments
  • Work with Donor Relations to record contributions from donors in the General Ledger (GL) and reconcile the GL with the donor management software
  • Maintain employee A/R balances and email monthly statements
  • Act as the point of contact for staff for MCC’s credit card provider Ramp
  • Import credit card transactions into the GL
  • Import non-donation transactions from MCC’s payment processor
  • Record vehicle charge outs in the GL
  • Assist in preparing schedules and other requested documents for the year end audit
  • Maintain prepaid expense ledger

Supervision: No supervisory responsibilities.

Travel expectations: Depending on location up to 10 nights away a year.

  • Constantly remaining in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods of time.
  • Occasionally light work that includes moving objects up to 20 pounds.
  • Constantly repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
  • Constantly assessing the accuracy, neatness and thoroughness of work assigned.

Salary Details

Base salary: $53,448.51. Starting salary may be adjusted up to $59,387.23 based on previous experience.

Benefits
