POSITION SUMMARY

Chattanooga State Community College seeks a dynamic and mission-driven professional to serve as the Administrative Assistant 3 as the primary support staff for the Rural Initiatives for Student Excellence in Healthcare Pathways (RISE) grant, funded by the Tennessee Higher Education Commission (THEC). This full-time, grant-funded role provides strategic, operational, and student-centered support to expand healthcare education pathways for rural and underserved populations across the College’s service area. The coordinator will report directly to the Dean of Nursing & Allied Health and play a vital role in connecting high school students, faculty, and community stakeholders to healthcare education and career pathways.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Holistic Student Support

  • Assists NAH and RISE Program Coordinator in obtaining support and resources for students, as needed
  • Creates partnerships with key internal and external partners to assist the College in meeting grant program outcomes
  • Performs general clerical duties such as typing, copying, filing, answering telephone, taking messages, routing calls, greeting visitors, providing appropriate information
  • Promotes, supports, and participates in student recruitment and retention efforts

Fiscal Stewardship

  • Supports the responsible fiscal stewardship of the funds allocated to the Nursing and Allied Health Division- THEC RISE Grant.
  • Prepares financial reports related to THEC grant (e.g., grant contracts for additional pay, etc.)
  • Establishes and maintains filing system of various records (e.g., financial, statistical, personnel records, etc.)
  • Maintains supplies and equipment including various forms, service contracts, office supplies, etc.

Organizational Culture and Inclusive Practices

  • Provides support in the Nursing & Allied Health Division that aligns with the College’s values
  • Supports the NAH dean and RISE Grant Program Coordinator in the continuous review of the Nursing and Allied Health Division work in an effort to promote excellence
  • Maintains an office environment that is open, inviting, and professional; takes initiative and seeks advice on process improvement

Teaching Excellence and Program Innovation

  • Provides routine and complex administrative clerical support including researching, compiling, and reconciling information for various grant reports
  • Summarizes documents for supervisor/department staff
  • Coordinates events, travel arrangements, appointment schedules for community events and projects related to THEC RISE Grant
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned

  • Ability to present information clearly and concisely with excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively and to make decisions, both independently and as part of a team

  • Knowledge of modern office practices, procedures, and equipment
  • Skilled at attention to detail
  • Ability to manage time well, to organize and manage multiple office functions, to prioritize multiple tasks and projects to meet deadlines
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment (computer, multi-line telephone, printer/copier/scanner, fax machine)
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Work experience: Three years secretarial experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate’s Degree
  • Experience in higher education setting

Salary Range: $37,141 - $43,641
