Physical Requirements

Job-related travel including overnight stays; visiting county offices throughout the state; handling of average-weight objects up to 25 pounds; sitting for long periods.

Shift

Monday-Friday (8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.) with evenings and weekends as needed. Most weeks will exceed 40 hours.

Job Summary

Title: Agriculture Extension Assistant Regional Director

Location: Lexington, KY

This position will support Extension administration by, among other things: overseeing website maintenance and development; updating the Extension manual; facilitating policy and procedure reviews; working with the Extension Engagement and Administrative Initiatives Director and the Extension Marketing and Communication Director as needed to design and implement resources and plans; helping plan and coordinate the Area Professional Development Statewide sessions; supporting Human Resources processes and personnel management issues; supporting financial and public accountability processes; and providing statewide administrative coverage for Area Extension Directors during periods of vacancy or absence.

This professional position will report to an Extension Regional Director.

State law requires a national and state criminal background check and a letter from the Cabinet for Health and Family Services stating the employee is clear to hire based on no findings of substantiated child abuse or neglect found through a background check of child abuse and neglect records as a condition of employment or involvement in this program.

Skills / Knowledge / Abilities

Preferred Education/Experience

A minimum 6 years of supervisory experience. Exhibits outstanding leadership, interpersonal relationship building, and employee coaching and development skills. General understanding of various employment laws and practices. Knowledge of basic economics, budgeting, and accounting principles and practices. Ability to deal effectively and pragmatically with external stakeholders. Exhibits innovative and strategic thinking and ability to offer news ideas and implement them. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to practice high levels of confidentiality. Must be able to travel to all counties in the area on a regular basis. Willingness to work evenings and weekends. Proficient in Microsoft office applications, Zoom and Quick Books. Bachelor’s degree. Driver’s license.
