The Martin-Gatton College of Agriculture, Food and Environment’s Department of Horticulture seeks an Agriculture Extension Associate Senior to support statewide home horticulture education and serve as the State Master Gardener Coordinator.
This position provides leadership for educational programming, outreach initiatives, and volunteer engagement efforts that help gardeners, county agents, and communities across Kentucky access research-based horticulture information. Working closely with Extension faculty, county agents, and stakeholders throughout the state, the successful candidate will play an important role in advancing horticulture education and strengthening the Kentucky Extension Master Gardener Program.
What You’ll Do
- Develop and deliver educational programming and outreach resources focused on home horticulture and gardening
- Respond to home horticulture questions and support county agents with research-based information and resources
- Create, update, and maintain educational materials, including horticulture guides and publications
- Serve as State Coordinator for the Kentucky Extension Master Gardener Program
- Maintain and enhance Master Gardener communication platforms, including websites, SharePoint resources, social media, and listservs
- Support county-level Master Gardener programs through training, coordination, and connections to university resources
- Assist with planning and delivery of the annual Master Gardener conference and recognition activities
- Collaborate with faculty, Extension personnel, students, and stakeholders on horticulture education initiatives
