Job Summary

The College of Public Health/Public Health Analytics and Informatics is seeking an Application Programmer Analyst I to join a team working on multiple research projects, including the Rapid Actionable Data for Opioid Response in Kentucky (RADOR-KY) system. Our ideal candidate must be innovative, detail-oriented, and motivated to solve challenges while working under the guidance of faculty and senior research staff. In this role the analyst will:

• Assist during all stages within the Software Development Life Cycle

• Utilize various web-based languages, frameworks, and libraries such as HTML, ReactJS, Python Flask, CSS, JavaScript, Typescript, and jQuery

• Develop within Linux systems and platforms such as Python Flask; Power Platform; Azure (App Service and Functions); and SQL Server Database Engine (T-SQL)

• Use research-based techniques to assist the development and longevity of stakeholder applications

• Participate in code reviews and contribute to technical and academic documentation

• Assist with BETA tests and aggregate feedback

• Optimize applications for performance and scalability

• Present project demos and assist with research proposals



This position will collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams including other programmers, data scientists, biostatisticians, and faculty engaged in the research projects. This position will primarily be remote.



Skills / Knowledge / Abilities

Knowledge of Microsoft, Linux, open-source, and web standard technologies such as ASP.NET Web Forms, ASP.NET MVC, C#, CSS, HTML, JavaScript, jQuery, and T-SQL
to design and develop technologies.

Preferred Education/Experience

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience may substitute and 1 year’s experience in web-based systems object oriented web development using .NET, ASP.
