Job Summary
The University of Kentucky (UK) College of Pharmacy Department of Pharmacy Practice and Science is seeking applicants for a full-time, tenure-track appointment at the Assistant Professor level with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2026. We seek candidates with research expertise in community-engaged research (CER) and/or health services research in pharmacy.
The mission of the UK College of Pharmacy is to provide innovative education, conduct pioneering research, deliver cutting-edge clinical practice, foster collaboration, and advance health outcomes through evidence-based research, education, and practice. Our faculty create and lead collaborative, interdisciplinary efforts within our university’s dynamic and growing research and clinical enterprises. Our faculty conduct multidisciplinary research; formulate theory and create data-driven tools to examine the factors that impact medication use and effects; quantify the impact of global, national, and state pharmaceutical policies and regulations; assess the impact that medication has on health outcomes at the population-level, including populations experiencing health disparities or limited access to care; and translate results to real-world settings to promote appropriate medication use for individual patients and populations.
This role offers a unique opportunity for a well-qualified and motivated candidate to contribute to innovative community-engaged/health services research, while collaborating across disciplines in a supportive research environment. Opportunities for collaboration exist in numerous research centers at the College and across the University, including the Center for the Advancement of Pharmacy Practice (CAPP),Institute for Pharmaceutical Outcomes and Policy, the Center for Clinical and Translational Science (CCTS) and the Center for Health, Engagement and Transformation (CHET).
Applicants should have a PharmD, PhD or other applicable terminal degree in a related field and have a record of accomplishments in research, teaching, and service commensurate with an academic appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor. Preference will be given to candidates who possess a strong technical background in methods relevant to conducting CER/health services research in pharmacy, including intervention design, mixed-methods research, and/or health behavior theories. Primary responsibilities include:
- Developing, maintaining and collaborating in an active research program in the area(s) of CER/health services research in pharmacy
- Advancing the knowledge of CER/health services research in pharmacy both locally and nationally
- Securing extramural funding to support your research program
- Teaching/mentoring in the graduate and professional pharmacy programs
- Providing service to the department, college and university as appropriate to rank
