Job Summary

The University of Kentucky College of Pharmacy invites applications for a tenure-eligible faculty position in the Special Title Series at the rank of Assistant Professor within the Department of Pharmacy Practice and Science. This is a 12-month appointment.



The successful candidate will provide leadership for the Bachelor of Science in Pharmaceutical Sciences (BSPS) program, ensuring effective integration with the Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) program. This individual will serve as a leader in curricular innovation, program evaluation, and student success initiatives within the BSPS program while developing and maintaining a scholarly presence in pharmacy education and related social and administrative sciences.



Teaching responsibilities will focus on courses in the BSPS curriculum that introduce undergraduate students to pharmacy practice and social/administrative sciences research in pharmacy. The faculty member will also contribute significantly to the College’s teaching, research, service, and administrative missions, with an emphasis on advancing undergraduate and professional pharmacy education. The successful candidate will have an area of specialization in educational leadership, curricular integration, and undergraduate education in pharmacy.



Responsibilities include:
  • Administration (40%) – Lead the BSPS program, including curricular oversight, program evaluation, budgeting, faculty/staff supervision, recruitment, and retention. Represent the College in BSPS-related initiatives and align program goals with the College’s strategic priorities.
  • Instruction (35%) – Teach in the BSPS, PharmD, or graduate programs as appropriate; contribute to curricular design, assessment, and educational innovation; mentor and advise students across undergraduate, professional, and graduate programs.
  • Scholarship (10%) – Develop and maintain a scholarly program in pharmacy education and related social and administrative sciences, disseminating findings through peer-reviewed publications and presentations. Seek external or internal funding to support scholarly initiatives as appropriate.
  • Service (10%) – Engage in service to the College, University, and profession, including committee membership, student mentorship, and professional organization involvement.
  • Professional Development (5%) – Pursue activities to strengthen teaching, administration, and scholarship.

Qualifications:
  • Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree
  • Demonstrated experience in building, leading, and refining undergraduate curricula
  • Evidence of effective teaching at the undergraduate and/or professional level
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Commitment to establishing and maintaining a program of scholarly activity
