Job Summary
The associate audio-video technology specialist will provide technical support to customers in the operation and best practices of classroom and conference spaces. Additionally, this position will be responsible for identifying issues in technology-equipped spaces and resolving these issues under the direction of their supervisor. This position may serve other colleges or units through the collaborative efforts of Information Technology Partners.Duties & Responsibilities
- Customer Service and Support
•Delivering excellent customer service by responding to requests in person, on the phone, or via email in a timely, polite, and professional manner.
•Working in a team of AV specialists supporting instructional and administrative AV technology for the Gies College of Business.
•Actively maintaining relationships with the customer community, proactively communicate relevant information, and stay informed of customers’ needs and initiatives.
•Providing training for customers on the use of AV technology.
- A/V System Support
•Identifying functional and performance issues associated with use of AV technology, collaborate with peers on possible solutions and implement corrective actions in a timely manner.
•Deployment of systems for classroom and conference room technologies, such as projectors, screens, displays, video conferencing, and lecture capture equipment.
•Deployment and maintenance of digital signage systems. - A/V Service Management
•Keeping abreast of trends in AV technology.
•Encouraging best practices regarding the use of AV technology.
•Creating and maintaining staff and customer documentation on the use and best practices of AV technology. - Organizational Support
•Partnering with Client Success and Operations staff on the support of AV technology.
•Working with Classroom and Facilities Technology staff to provide AV support for occasional high-profile events, which may occur outside business hours.
•Collaborate with other IT units and college departments to align AV support initiatives with organizational objectives. - Other Duties as assigned
Specialty Factors
High school diploma or equivalent.
Two (2) years of work experience in IT‐related functions such as hardware/software support, programming, network design, network engineering, IT systems integration, or closely related field.
College coursework which includes Information Technology (IT), IT Management, Programming, IT systems, or a closely related discipline, may be substituted as follows:
•30 semester hours equals one (1) year
•Associate's degree (60 semester hours) equals eighteen (18) months,
•90 semester hours equals two (2) years
•Bachelor’s Degree (120 semester hours) equals three (3) years).
Experience with A/V technology support (for example: projectors, microphones, cameras, digital signage, or related software tools)
Experience working in a customer service environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in technology at an institution of higher education or equivalent.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of the systems and operations used within the areas and departments of responsibility.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to oversee and coordinate activities of user groups.
- Ability to effectively communicate with other colleagues, supervisors, administrative staff, and other IT users.
- Ability to identify and resolve technical problems.
- Ability to effectively communicate and professionally interact with all staff levels.
- Familiarity with project management concepts.
- Familiarity with networking concepts and connectivity.
- Knowledge of current technology and software for production and display of multimedia content (e.g. cameras, mixers, projectors, and digital displays).
- Familiarity with modern Windows operating systems.
- Familiarity with A/V technology, setup, and coordination for large and/or remote events.
- Familiarity with enterprise tools or services such as endpoint management, imaging, or centralized solutions.
- Familiarity with instructional or collaborative space design.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
Appointment Information
This is a 100% full-time Civil Service 5031 - Information Technology Technical Associate position, appointed on a 12-month basis. The expected startdate is as soon as possible after the search close date. Salary is competitiveand commensurate with qualifications and experience, while also consideringinternal equity. The budgeted salary range for the position is $47,600 to$56,600. This position is noteligible for visa sponsorship.
