Position Summary:

This position is accountable for assisting in or performing audits under the guidance of senior auditors and/or the Audit Director.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Audits: This individual will assist in the execution of operational, financial or compliance audits. They will work with the Audit Director and/or senior Audit staff in the development of the audit program. They will be responsible for developing and completing assigned sections of the audit, under the supervision of the Audit Director and senior Audit staff, which will include creation of workpapers and test plans. They will also be responsible for identifying potential observations and bringing those to the attention of the Audit Director and/or senior Audit staff, as well as drafting the observation language for presentation to the business
  • Direct Assistance: This individual will be responsible for the execution of assigned programs for direct assistance work related to the external financial audit, under the supervision of the Audit Director and senior Audit staff. This will include timely communication open issues to both Audit management and to the business.
  • Facilitated Risk and Control Assessments (FRCA):This individual will be responsible for facilitating and reporting on FRCAs throughout the business, as well as keeping risk and control information current through the annual survey process. They will be responsible for monitoring open observations as assigned to them by senior Audit staff and performing timely follow-up with management to ensure compliance with agreed upon action plans in relation to audit observations and findings.
  • Internal Controls over Financial Reporting (ICFR) Testing: This individual will have Model Audit Rule (MAR) financial cycles assigned to them and they will be responsible for the completion of the related mid-year and year-end testing, as well as the communication of any observations noted during testing. They will also be responsible for the completion of flow chart reviews, walkthroughs, and other administration items related to their assigned financial cycle. This will be performed under the supervision of the Audit Director and senior Audit staff. They will participate in the MAR planning and scoping exercise, performing tasks as assigned by Audit Management. This individual will also be responsible for overseeing any intern working on MAR. This will include training them on MAR, testing, applicable systems, and other matters as necessary. They will be responsible for reviewing their work prior to it being submitted to the Audit Manager for review.
  • Additional Duties:
    • This individual will become familiar with our data analytic tools and will work with the Audit Director to incorporate data analytical routines in all audits, and remain vigilant for other areas where data could be utilized.
    • Perform timely follow-up with management to ensure compliance with agreed upon action plans in relation to audit observations.
    • Provide support to the Audit Director, Deputy Chief Auditor and VP Audit & Risk Services on special projects as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree required, Accounting, Finance or similar field preferred
  • 1-3 years of experience in the field of public accounting and/or internal audit required, emphasis in financial services preferred.
  • Clear, effective and confident verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to conduct an effective interview and/or present information in one-on-one and small group situations to business unit staff and/or Management, audit team and External Auditors.
  • Ability to learn and apply basic auditing standards and techniques.
  • Licensure: Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or desire and aptitude necessary to obtain preferred
  • Ability to travel within the continental U.S. approximately 10% of the year.
  • Ability to pass a background check.

The base compensation range represents the low and high end of the range for this position. Actual compensation will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to qualifications, skills, competencies, location, and experience. The range listed is just one component of our total compensation package for employees.
Other rewards may include an annual bonus, quarterly bonuses, commissions, and other long-term incentive compensation, depending on the position.
